While fiddling with Alt codes for characters, I accidentally discovered a few shortcuts that can be used to turn on or off sections of the keyboard backlighting. What's more, you can turn off the touchpad logo by itself without disabling the backlight for the center group of keys.

    • Fn+NumPad 7 = Toggle keyboard left section backlight
    • Fn+NumPad 8 = Toggle keyboard center section backlight
    • Fn+NumPad 9 = Tobble keyboard right section backlight
    • Fn+NumPad 5 = Toggle trackpad logo

This applies in addition to the shortcuts used to adjust the brightness of the backlight (Fn+Numpad + and Fn+NumPad -), toggle the entire backlight (Fn+NumPad *), or open the backlight customization window (Fn+NumPad /), which are marked on the numeric keypad.

Yup! Sager added those hotkeys due to people wanting control over the controversial backlit trackpad. Awesome that you found them randomly

Thanks for posting it, I'm sure it will help some people out.

This will also work on the other models which have a backlit keyboard.

If you have the Sager NP8250, NP8290, NP9390 you can update the BIOS / EC Firmware and hotkey driver to support these functions which you can get from Sager tech support or your reseller can help you get those updated.

Just the current generation of machines for the individual controls. For the older machines, using the FN + / combination will bring up the Light Manager and allow you to change them yourself.
