I need some help concerning the TV Tuner included on the NP5792.

The picture quality is horrible. I hook it up to my cable box and barely receive a signal. I also tried the DVR. The quality is still lacking.

When I used the provided passive antenna, one over the air channel looks pretty good.

I contacted Sager about this. They said it is a cable problem because I can receive the over-the-air signal well. They also stated that this tuner does not support DTV. I countered that the documentation states it does.

I tried both the Vista MCE and the tuner software. Both show low quality.

Has anyone had success with the tuner?

The TV tuner on this model usually works very well. What sort of distortion are you getting? How is the quality when you watch it on a regular TV? If you are not getting any distortion on your TV, then that should rule out a cable problem.

Quality on the TV tuner resembles getting a weak analog signal. When I hook the cable up to the tv, everything is fine. I will look in the laptop to see if there is a loose connection.
