So I am going home to Costa Rica tomorrow and I'll be bringing my Clevo with me. It can get pretty humid down there so I bought a small dehumidifier to put with my laptop.

Do you think I would get the best results with the dehumidifier by putting it in the backpack or suitcase that I'll keep my laptop in, or would it be better in a drawer or something like that?

I don't know why you need to do that though, I have been using my Envy in Vietnam (the humidity = taking a shower without water) and the States back and forth every 6 months for 3 years now. It's still running great

Well I've read that heat and humidity isn't very good for your machine. But as long as you say it shouldn't be a problem I'll take your word for it.

I lived in costa rica for a couple months last year a couple hundred feet off a beach. I had an old dell laptop that bit the dust during the trip. Dont know if it was age, the humidity, or the heat, but id be wary of taking my NP8150 down there.

If you do, id certainly extensively research the effects of humidity/heat and be prepared (sounds like youre working on that). It sucked to lose my dell at the time, but it would be a lot worse to lose your P150HM. Goodluck.

While a humid environment sure isn't advised, I have never heard of someone's laptop breaking specifically due to the humidity of their country's environment. Heat is a bigger concern as a gaming laptop will already be running hotter than most other laptops. I'd suggest you keep your gaming to one hour sessions if possible and monitor your CPU and GPU temps.

I would suspect if there were a lot of dust that absorbed the humidity from the air laying on the motherboard or any other electrical traces/pathes, it could cause a short or ground out the traces. Kepp it clean and the heat generated by the CPU/GPU should help keep everything nice and dry.

I live in the Philippines where humidity and heat is a problem.
I monitor my GPU temps all the time using the OSD feature of MSI Afterburner (although I don't overclock)
Even at high ambient temperatures I typically don't go over 80-85 degrees.
You should be fine as long as you are careful.

While computers are more sensitive, if you're not having problems with other electronics i.e TV, Stereo, Desktop computer, etc you shouldn't have any problems with a notebook.

Okay thanks for all the info guys. I'm just trying to be as cautious as possible considering I dropped like 1,300 bucks on this bad boy. I've been very pleased with the performance so far.
