my u700 has recently started to freeze whenever I use a browser: chrome, firefox.
it does not freeze if I boot the OS in safe mode with networking, otherwise it gives this issue randomly.

the issue is that the system becomes completely unresponsive and I have to shut it down via the power button, no BSOD,
    can you help?

no idea but it might be worth trying a system restore to the day before you noticed the problem.

have you loaded any new software, drivers, windows updates. could be any of these or none of these.

also can you post your full spec so everyone knows what system you have cpu/gpu/ram/hdd/ssd

you should find the system spec in control panel. not sure of the shortcuts as using xp at work.
    are you running vista/ 7 or 8

how did you load the video drivers and which ones did you load. whql or beta and driver number would help.
also is it nvidia or ati gpu

There is probably a background service that is causing the system to hang (one that is not loaded in Safe Mode). You can check your Event Viewer (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) for any logs that may have been created due to the hang and hard shutdown. :)

even after formatting, it still sometimes freezes,
almost only when browsing in firefox "non-safe" mode.
