1.) My english is not so good so please dont bother me for it.
    Hi everybody,
    I have a problem with my M860TU.
    It has a P8800 C2D
    GTX260
    4Gb RAM
    320Gb @ 7200rpm.
With Windows 7 the temperature of the ACPI sensor raises to 105°C then the CPU downlocks to 1500 Mhz. I read in another thread that 105°C is far to much for the ACPI. I dont know what to do, I already changed the old thermalpaste to Arctic Silver 5 but it still happens.
Under XP i can controll the high temperature by using RMCLOCK (temperature raising stops around 87°C.
Is it possible that the CPU has some sort of malufunction ?

Will it damage the system if the temp. goes higher then 110°C ?
Are the CPU Temps OK around 80°C or is it to high ? (idle 45°C)

follow this guide to drop your temps:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

Then only thing the dsdt mod should do is stop CPU throttling.

The notebook should still shut down if it gets to hot so it shouldn't cause any damage.

The undervolting guide could fix your problem, but if it doesn't, I can help you do the dsdt mod.

Thanks ... i tryed RMCLOCK with win7 2 month ago but i didn't saw the x64 drivers. Now it seems to work fine. Stable without downclocking.
    Thanks moral_hazard.

PS: I still think the temps are 2 high ... :)

    before:
    ACPI: 105°C
    CPU: 85°C
    after RMCLOCK
    ACPI: 86°C
    CPU: 66°C

    20°C down !
I'am still running some benchmarks with GPU under heavy load ... will post them later.

try to apply new thermal paste? or check if the CPU heatsink is not tighten properly...

my q9000 idles at same temps as yours around 45C
usually core2duos should idle around 35....(my old P8700 around 25c)
