    Temperature question (thrm)?

    Hi, sorry to make a thread about this but i didn't found anything about the THRM temperatures. Normally, my np5793 reads about 50C-60Cin THRM, but today while playing CoD5 it went to 84C!!! all the other temperatures looked normal, 45C on CPU, 74C on GPU, 50C on HDD.

    Can someone explain me what is the THRM temperature?, and did my laptop reached dangerous temperatures on it? and if it did, how much time does it take (while in that temp) to make any damage to internal components?

    I'm using CPUID to monitor temperature, is there a chance of a wrong reading?

    I believe it is your Chipset.

    If its real, that is very hot. A wrong reading is possible. Did the laptop seem hot?

    Seeing as your other temps are fine, it could be incorrect.

    You might want to look into a notebook cooler.

    Well, the temperature felt like I always feel while gaming (warm), I hope it was a wrong reading, the weird thing is that every other temperature seemed normal. That was the max temperature, when I closed the game the THRM appeared around 60C.

    My ACPI temp is usually 5-10C higher than the CPU temps. So never above 65C.

    Yeah, same here. ;)

    Right now its at 33C, CPU is 23C.

    Mine also was 10C higher and never above 65C, until today :( . Right now while surfing the web is 44C.

    When I had a 5791 , that temp never went over 70C.
    Funny thing is, the hottest component in the 579x was the CPU, being an older T7xxx model, which at stock, with Orthos hit 79C ,while the GPU stayed at max 66C...
    If you haven`t so far, I recommend that you undervolt the CPU. For details, follow the link in my sig, there`s a page about undervolting.

    My ACPI temperature right now on my NP9262 with max fans is 52C. Not doing anything too intense. Just playing Quake Live.

    Well, i don't think my CPU temperatures are bad, they never go above 50C and normally are at 30C, but, does undervolting also benefits THRM temperature?
