If I didn't have a spare machine with a MXM 3.0 slot, does anyone know how I would go about as to testing the functionality fo a graphics card? I recently sold my Clevo 6970M on ebay and the buyer returend it saying it was DOA, however im certain the card isnt dead because I just switched out the graphics card for a 7970M. Would any retailers help me out and test the card if i shipped it to them?

There's not really much of a way besides installing it in your computer, unless you can get your hands on those top secret MXM3 to PCIE adapters. You could however find out if their computer was even originally compatible with the card. That would negate the DOA claim, because it's not DOA, they have the incorrect specifications.

Do you know what he tried to put it in?
You could also put the 6970M back into your computer to see if it works.

Did he supply specifics? Sometimes a buyer will say something along those lines when they really have buyer's remorse, and the item is fine.

If you already got it back, I suppose there's not a lot you can do now for the transaction between you and the buyer. But in the future (should it come up again), you can ask the buyer to provide video or some sort of iron clad evidence that the item is DOA, so that you don't get cheated.

For your own peace of mind, you can test the card by putting it back in your system, since it previously worked (as Hutsady recommended).

Seeing as how I can't test the card because I don't have the laptop with me atm, do you guys think any retailers will help me test the card granted I cover the shipping?

It's not really fesible for a company to offer you free support for a video card you want to make money off of... You know?

What about our other question? What laptop did they attempt to install it to?

Too much liability when you send it in to a place to get checked out. Maybe a local repair shop could check it for you if you can bring it in to them.

Just reverse the process and put it in your machine....

Or get a user on here to test it I suppose.
