um..right..well this is gonna sound weird but i feel like i read soooo many good positive remarks about Sager.....actually lemme rephrase i only heard good things about it..that i need to hear some bad things...
give me ONLY bad remarks that you have encountered with Sager...doesnt matter which model it can be any...I just need to hear something bad before I buy it lol (sounds weird i know =/)
it could be even the smallest most dumbest remark..like "omg after 2 weeks you will hear squeaky sounds when you open it" ....yea lol so lets hear them!!!
you know what they say...nothing is ever perfect...i think...
o and please keep it to as much bad remarks as you canthere probably wont be much but who knows =/ might be something i distaste
just gimme something worth reading =)
-
If you want plenty of bad remarks... Go to AW's forum!
I hope Sager is as perfect as it sounds... as I'm really eager to become the owner of one.
But yes, I agree... nothing is perfect. It's always good to hear the "lunar side" of the story. -
When I received mine the lid was a bit bent in the middle. Because of this the screen has poor viewing angles because of light bleed. I contacted my reseller and they promptly gave me an RMA, but because I am a student and I need my computer I haven't sent it in yet. Also there is a little keyboard flex in the upper right-hand corner. besides these inconveniences the notebook is perfect.

5793 -
1) speakers are only 50% as loud as my macbook pro.
2) the right side of palm rest area gets warm during gaming or any heavy load
3) many users complained about the headphone jack
4) unusual number pad layout
5) the plastic of palm rest could be better.
6) audio jacks should be located at the rear, because some coolers can damage/blocking the plugs.
7) the most important: fan vibration with press fn+3 (just mine)
8) power-plug gets loss easily. -
The white shipping box the computer is delivered in is pretty boring??
That's about all I can think of.
Solid as a rock, fast, cool-running, sleek (but not flashy), reliable, CHEAP PRICES. That's my experience with Sager. -
crossing fingers the m860tu wont have anything to add to the list.
(no noise from one fan deal...no overheating problems please)
i know that the the m860tu is really on the fat side of 15.4'' thickness which is disappointing, but nothing we can really do and not a defect.
my np2090 came with a greasy lid u couldn't clean (like it was inside the outer glass). it was almost as if someone smeared Vaseline inside of it...kinda. not that bad, but it was enough for me to return. -
interesting nice to know there are something bad...lol always liked to hear these precised details
-
The lid casing could be better on the 5793. If I press on the front edges near the lcd, the screen will ripple along where I press.
-
For the NP9262, the only bad thing I have to say is that I feel guilty having a laptop that rivals my desktop's performance. It's a bad guilty pleasure.
-
I'd say the noise is the biggest problem for me, =/ sure it runs nice and cool, but I'd give up 7c if it ran quieter.
-
Only complaint about my NP9262 is for the $$$ I paid, the speakers absolutely suck. But's that's it.
-
Hmm...For the NP5793 I can think of:
1. Fan noise
2. Keyboard flex
3. Some chassis flex, especially on the right palmrest.
4. REALLY weak speakers
5. Headphone plugs aren't soldered properly to the motherboard.
6. Too few USB ports
7. Too "clumpy" on the underside.
8. All the weight is balanced towards the rear of the notebook, which makes it uncomfortable to have on your lap.
9. Power plug fall out easily
10. LCD-indicators are located where I keep my right wrist while writing. So to check if I turned on caps-lock and if the harddrive is working etc., I have to lift my right hand...inconvenient.
11. Screen is dim. (I have the 1680x1050 non-gloss)
12. Screen has washed out colours.
13. The screen lid seems to be bent downwards in the middle when the lid is closed.
14. The audio output has much interference and distortion
15. Ports have stupid location. Audio should be on the back or on the sides, and all USB ports should be on the backside.
16. Laptop only has 3 hotkeys.
17. It's almost to hard to open the screen lid...seems like the hinges are too hard.
18. It's idiotic to have two "switches" to open the screenlid. One "switch" in the middle would have been fine.
19. The carbon-fiber imitation looks cheap.
20. The power adapter makes a high-frequency irritating noise under load.
Well that's about it... -
5793 - 2 hr. battery life. I know, I know- you can't expect more from this performance level. But I still want it!
-
Hmm...the NP8660 is humongous for a 15.4" notebook!! lol that's my only complaint so far.
-
-
Yeah, I disagree with that one too. The audio ports are on the front because it's a gaming rig, and users want easy access. And I personally want a few USB ports on the sides for the same reason. 4 of them should be plenty, if you need more, get a hub.
-
Are there any DIY solutions to reducing audio interference in the outputs?
-
Too "clumpy" on the underside? Anyone care to translate that into English, and then explain why it's a "defect?"
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I would say the looks.I am happy the the rest.
-
is there any other bad stuff about the 9262? i'd like to know so i can check if mine is working properly as it's supposed to, the moment it arrives!
-
Crimson Roses Notebook Evangelist
For my 5791?
1. The speakers are for crap.
2. The lid attracts a lot of fingerprints if you're not careful.
3. The white box it came in was dirty.
4. I keep hearing this "clicky" sound coming from the keyboard when I type on it.
5. It didn't come with a complimentary chocolate. -
Fan noise as far as the Sager NP579x goes is a known issue. But I'd prefer slight noise (yes, it AIN'T much!) over an overheating notebook.
As far as any other problems mentioned here go, these can be user specific issues that can happen only with a matter of chance with just about any notebook you would purchase.
Also, the weak green audio jack in the 579x is of poor quality and can fail over time.
Some say the looks of Sager are bad (I'm talking with respect to.... well, my model, 5793) but that's only because they haven't seen it in person yet
Everything else is a plus. -
-
Hrm, bad things about a 9262....
It is finally slower than my desktop since I just recently upgraded it to 2xATI 4870s and a Q9650 with 4gig ram.
Um, glossy finish picks up finger prints easily.
SLi can be finicky with some games and drivers.
Speakers are on the weak side.
No illuminated keys or cool underlighting (all laptops should have these by now!!!) :rolleyes2:
I have been really happy with her for the last 5 months with zero problems from the laptop itself, wish I could say the same for Vista but I manage. -
My M37EW (NP3790) screen sucked. But that was a Hypersonic not a Sager, so not sure if that's valid for this discussion.
Sucked as in dim, terrible light leakage, very reflective even though it was matte, and picked up fingerprints/grease/marks very easily. Fell in love with WUXGA+ though.
Keyboard flexed, it actually stuck up a bit more than it should've with the result that all of the keys left marks on the screen whenever it was closed.
Plastic wasn't of the greatest quality.
Oh and the worst part? The stupid rubber feet came off very easily.
But this is years ago... And it's still running fairly strong, so I can't fault that. -
my 5793 screen is quite dim as well!
-
Mines keeps taunting me in my dreams =(.
-
Unless you know someone who already has one, you don't get a chance to see it in person before deciding to buy it since they don't get sold in the big retail box stores.
-
And I didn't say it was a defect. Id rather consider it as an inconvenience. -
I've heard quite a few people stating the speakers suck...
Has anyone tried replacement speakers?
I mean, there is bound to be some higher quality aftermarket speakers that could be used...
If no one has I may look around once I get mine. -
An USB port can deliver 500mA @ 5V = 2,5W total power, so it shouldn't be any problem. -
I'm talking about removing the speakers in the notebook and replacing them with aftermarket speakers. I'm not talking about portable replacements...
-
-
Really?
Well then that sucks...lol
May have to find a way to hook it up to my home theater system.
-
-
eh, you can get a good system for a little of nothing.
Home Theater Systems are cheap nowadays.
You don't have to have a Bose setup to sound good. -
I know that this wont matter to most people but it bother me since im working in show industry i use my vga port alot and i saw that you cant actually screw your vga cable to the port. I will probably build some velcro stuff on my next sager laptop to make sure the vga cable doest get off during a powerpoint presentation or else.
-
Well to be honest, I've been thinking about doing this myself for quite some time now. The biggest problem is to find speakers with the same dimensions I guess...
Another problem would be power requirements of the replacement speakers... -
-
U should talk to Clevo directly.
-
I don't find the speakers on the NP9262 that bad. I mean, it's lacking the ton of bass most of us are spoiled by, but they do work. I'm not an audiophile, so I can't say they're terrible.
-
Everybody here seems to have different opinions on the speaker quality. I guess it depends upon what kind of sound quality you are used to hearing from before of.
i.e. I am used to the speakers of my old Dell Inspiron 9400, which where absolutely perfect imo. The transition from my old Inspiron to my new NP5793 was like night and day when it comes to speaker quality... -
Speaker, definitely.. Whenever you try to plug your earset on the green jack, it sounds like only half sound of what it should play.
-
The only bad thing I can think of with my 9262 is the way the Number key pad is setup......but that's not really even bad now that I'm used to it.
-
My 3790 was supposed to have four speakers but one or more of them conked out really quickly.
Moving away from audio, I was a little unhappy when I found out the NP8660 has neither VGA nor S-video. DVI adapters are easy to come by but just because America is going all digital it doesn't mean the rest of the world is. Plus more TV's have S-video in than VGA/DVI/HDMI in. -
I completely understand your concerns about Sager as it seems so many recent sager owners endorse them without restraint.
However, My Sager 8790 has been with me for about 3.5 years now and I have never owned a more problematic computer.
Fortunately I purchased a 2 year warranty which covered me when my hard drive crashed and my screen began malfunctioning. Yes I was covered by warranty, but Sager's third party repair company (micromedics) managed to fix my computer in about 3 months... after I sent it to them twice.....
Currently, my hard drive is still spinning but I am typing now with an external keyboard as many of my notebook keys are no longer functional. The final most annoying problem my notebook has now is overheating, and even more amusing is my notebook overheats when I am playing the system demanding Diablo II......"sign"....
So as a much as you hear people bark about how Sager makes bargain high-end notebooks. I can't help but feel my decision to buy a long-term problematic Sager was fueled by the same superficial hype. -
^That's stinks. Any reason why you haven't posted this sooner? It says you joined in April but this is the first time you're posting. Just curious, it would be helpful to hear more stories like this is anyone has them.
-
1.) so-so resell value, not a lot of people have heard of Sager so therefore it won't sell for as much, if you decide to do so in the future. which leads me to reason #2
2.) when people ask me what laptop I purchased and I say Sager, they are
3.) quality of materials used (for the NP2090 at least) was OK. I was not as satisfied with the interior materials used (the armrest area) as it felt like cheap plastic. exterior glossy was fine.
4.) keyboard has a bit of flex. also, my "I" button broke off while in college and i have no idea how that happened. i opened an RMA more than a month ago and the CSR was very friendly. I have yet to send it in though, but I should.
5.) screen has a little backlight bleeding near the middle, i hope i am wrong though but it is noticeable when the screen is black. i suppose that just may be bad contrast ratio. -

He asked for nitpicky, and nitpicky he shall get!
I, for one, could burn through 4 USB ports in no time, as my inventory is stocked to the brim with frequently-used USB devices:
- Mouse
- Notebook cooler
- Wacom tablet
- Flash drive
- Ipod
- Digital camera
- MIDI cable
It's a valid point to make. With that said, though, I would never reconsider buying a nice laptop just because it 'only' has 4 USB ports.
