The idea with this thread is that people post their benchmark scores so we can compare drivers and other configurations.

Please feel free to include other than 3Dmark scores.

    I will begin.

    Driver: Nvidia 169.01
    Overclocked GPU/CPU?: No

I am a bit ignorant to this but does the quad core vs your dual core make a huge difference on this benchmarking software?

Odds are, it could be driver issues as well. Either way I am jealous....I am just itching to buy an NP9261 but instead, for some stupid reason, I try to live vicariously through you owners on the forums! :D

    Jikeel,

The Q6700 will be faster in multithreading games. I don't know the "inside" of the benchmark but guess the main difference is due to the 2nd 8700 running in SLI-mode.

Johnelbek could test this. What would his score be with SLI off?

Congrats for the score Johnelbek, this is the first decent score I've seen with a d901c and the 8700M GT in SLI. It matched my score with the Go 7950 GTX in SLI and in Vista (on XP was above 9000).

Is the driver you used came with the lappy (Clevo or Sager) or is something you got somewhere else?

    Trance
PS: This post gave me confidence again. I now believe that the low scores other people are having is due to the fact that the driver of Vista x64 are very bad or Vista is not patched properly (fixing the 4GB problem?).

I have that exact laptop! (except i have Vista 64 Business instead of Ultimate).

I'd love to post my scores but SLI is not working on my computer yet. It seems to be working for other folks with Vista 64 but not me. Not sure why at the moment.

The score for Vista 32 is very nice at nearly 9000. I saw one Vista 64 score in these forums and it was around 7800. A differents of over 1000pts. I think that's all driver related, but who knows.

It would be nice to have my SLI working! As soon as it's resolved I'll post my benchmarks.

I managed to hit over 9000 points by changing the sli-mode to "force splitframe rendering" and Texture Filtering Quality to "High Performance"

Not really sure which of the two made the difference.

post some game testing because if you can't even raise the resolution with these higher scores its pretty pointless.

    Thx Kozi

thats what i want to get but the sli and the 64 bit are stopping me right now. lots of ppl are saying to stay away for 64 bit cause i wont be able to run some old programs/games and that they are still having problems with 64 bit

as for the 8700 in sli i am thinking of going with one 8700 (since only one is working and they are getting low scores) and get the 8800 's in sli when the come out, who knows when.

good luck with it and keep it posted how u make out. my lapptop depends on it lol

So I tried the Crysis Demo. The game automatically detected the optimal settings to High but it was absolutely unplayable. I had to lower the resolution to 1024x768 and change the settings to Medium before I got desent framerates. It seems a bit weird.

Yeah, Crysis doesn't seem to like the 8700m GT very much... for me, at least, it's possible to get framerates that would normally be playable (30+) at 1280x800 with almost all high settings, but something is making the game all jerky. I don't think that's how it's meant to run. It's not the post-processing or anything, because I've tried turning all of those down and while my framerate goes up, the jerkiness doesn't go away. Hrm.

There a pretty detailed review of the Alienware m9750 over at AnandTech. While I know that the m9750 is not a Clevo D901c (it's actually made by Arima). The reason I bring it up is that they reference NVidia's slow driver update cycle for SLi and they cover the performance (or lack thereof) in the SLi domain.

    Check it: http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3070

How does the UT3 demo run?
Can you get really smooth framerates at 1920x1200?

Runs like a dream. Smooth as ever with all settings on high at 1920x1200. Haven't tried enabling AA yet, though.
