    Very nice scores.

Try to also get a vantage score without PhysX.

anything special that you did to achieve this overclock? since 700/1700 for core/shader is higher than anything else i saw here so far.
temps from furmark would be interesting

Yea, Dondadah offered me his vbios...I said yes, then I took it from there. His bios was not overclocked, but came from another 280m. I think those clocks have been done before. Dondadah said he reached those levels.

I have yet to add cooling to the mix....then it should get interesting!

That 1225 MHz on the memory is crazy. Samsung makes the memories to work at 1000 MHz and no more. He has a very very lucky card to manage those scores. Not to mention that he can also get it permanently damage his card at those clocks. All in all, the clocks he manages to reach are just... well he shouldn't be able to reach them but he does... which is what makes it all so awesome.

I've never permanently damaged any vid card, and I push 'em all pretty hard.

Well, I shouldn't say that...I think I burned out my 7900gtx go on my dell xps lappy after having it permanently overclocked for almost 4 years, lol. That was when you had to do a hard flash and cards didn't downclock on 2d apps.

I did have to bump the voltage to 1.03 (extra) to get those 280m clocks though.

Dismantle the top half of your PSU and put a fan near it. You can also put a few heatsinks you have lying around ontop of the large aluminium plate. Just be careful to not touch it with ungrounded hands when it is operating. High voltage will put you on the floor, but high current will kill you.

What will cooling the power brick do for me, Soviet? I don't understand. I was thinking of channeling cold a/c air to the bottom of the notebook so the fan intakes cool down the gpu.

To be honest with you, I don't know how I managed to interpret your post as referring to the power adapter. Maybe I read too fast and the word "A/C" threw me off. Mornings without hot chocolate screws up my thinking sometimes. Disregard my last post.

I didn't think it would be fair if i didn't give 3dm06 a chance at mem of 1230

Then i bumped mem up to 1235 for a vantage run.

he is right...cooling the power supply down helps it keep a stable current and helps the psu last longer.
if you run the ac...just put it under with the laptop and it will do both.

Lol, I didn't even want to buy this one, but my 'ol Dell XPS M1710 crapped out on me. But I am a lot happier with the productivity of the Sager. Things that would take the Dell 5 minutes, the Sager does in 20 seconds...Thank you i7!

    ....I am a sucker for multiple vcards though......if only they made a quad-fire ;)

Time to ease back on the memory, Q56_Monster. The desktop 9800 GTX+'s memory is rated for 1200MHz and you have cranked yours above that.

Yes, but those card reviews never really push the cards hard. I have a desktop 9800GTX (not even a "+"), and I go over 9,200 in performance vantage, but that is with an i7 @ 4.5Ghz.

The QX9770 yorkie @ 3.8Ghz I would say is roughly equivalent to an i7 desktop proc at 3.4ghz.

I don't know, if I somehow OC'd a desktop proc to 3.8Ghz and ran it with a 280M, I seem to think it would still not reach the synthetic bench performance of the desktop 9800......we may never know!!!

Hey Man, you're back!! Good deal.

I only ran that mem for those bench runs...the 280m now sits running stock clocks and idle 99.99999% of the time, lol.

BTW, I bench my desktop 9800 gtx @ 1285 mem.

For desktop cards, it's okay to run a bit over the rated max as the cooling is much stronger. Also, 1285MHz is only ~7% over the rated max so that's not exactly a lot. On the GTX 280M though, over 1200MHz is a big jump.

Hi everybody.. sorry to resurrect this thread again, but I'm trying to overclock my 280m gtx on my clevo.. I just downloaded nvtools 6.05 and nibitor 5.5, but guess what? I'm running windows 7 64bit and it looks like nibitor doesn't work on this version? how did you guys managed to mod the bios on win7? is it even possible? any other solutions? thanks..

    Welcome to the forum :)

Remember, you don`t need nibitor to OC your GTX 280M, nvtools will work just fine, but your max OC will be limited because you can`t increase voltage without flashing the card.

if you want to bios mod, you need to use GPU-Z to extract the bios, then modify it with nibitor

..so far i got 700/950/1650 stable, with temps around 56 degrees while playing bad company 2.. i'm still adjusting while trying to keep the temp below 60.. using gpu-z and nibitor i was able to up the voltage only to 1.03.. how did you guys managed 1.05v using nibitor? that option isn't present in my configuration, i can only go to 1.03v...
