Sorry, just letting off some steam... man, the patients I lack is driving me crazy, I doubt I'm alone. Maybe we can list some things we do to help bid the time while we're waiting for our Sager to arrive.

    Biting nails? no nails left.

I've looked at my specs over a hundred times, on every vender's web page. still think I've found the lowest price though.

I've Looked at every other comparably model(almost bought an Alienware the other day), still think I found the best bang 4 buck.

I bought a brand new backpack, in anticipation of me new lappy. hope it fits hah.

    what about you?

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I am waiting for some money the next 10 days or so, so I couldn't buy one now even if they were available.
Not that I have made up my mind what or even from where to buy.
Just relax and plan your first day with it. What you are going to install, how, etc.

You think you got it bad? I ordered my np8660 towards the end of July, but even before that the wait was killing me. In order to distract myself from the wait, I decided to take up WoW for the summer. This was a risky decision because the computer i have been using up until about 6 hours ago (the disaster I will explain later) has a broken motherboard fan and overheats so easily it would only run with a box fan blowing on it. For about a month or so I was absorbed in WoW and the time flew, until yesterday when my wireless router decided to stop working. No big deal, I convinced my mom to give me her credit card and I bought a brand new draft-n router, little did i know it would be a &*(*&% and a half to set up, and tech support only available during the day, not at 10pm when my WoW addiction was starting to take over. Eventually I did sleep and went to work the next day. Getting home at around 4 I spent over an hour on the phone with numerous Indians (Ghandi not Squanto) who were overall helpful and I did get my internet running. Yay! I finally get to play some WoW!....for about 10 minutes until my monitor gives out. Angry and depressed, I began the 10+ hour install on our iMac, which i am currently using (and yes, I do feel dirty). Tomorrow I think I'll run to radio shack and look for cables to hook my pc up to my TV and use that as a monitor. Otherwise its back to sharing computer time with my little sisters, which all of you who play wow know is not acceptable.

So next time you're feeling sad waiting for your sager, remember that guy who's rant you read (or maybe not, that ended up longer than i anticipated) and be glad when you do use a computer your legs dont get cold from the box fan that isnt cooling your fully functioning computer.

Hah! I have to shift my old laptop by millimetres to snag that super elusive unencrypted signal that's floating around my room in order to come on here and look for updates. And the fact that my laptop's on my bed doesn't help because if it bounces just a little bit I'll lose the signal and it'll take me 10 minutes of painstaking shuffling to get it back.

I'm sort of killing time by preparing a completely slipstreamed XP installation with all the drivers and SP3... Anyone else got other ideas on what I can throw in there? I'm cheap so I ordered without an OS so I want to take care of as much stuff in one straight shot as possible.

    is unacceptable :p

The only thing i can think of installing right now is... xfire, cod4, office 07. im thinking about buying a skin or so other kinda what not to make the8660 not so plain looking. But sheesh, finding the perfect cosmetic isnt nearly as easy as finding the perfect lappy.

Supposedly one more day(8-08-08), and will be hopfully hearing word that the 8660s are moving from somewhere to somewhere, think the hardest part is just not knowing anything.

    hahaha.

For me, I went out and bought a nice, long HDMI cable to connet my 8860 to my HD TV and a new wacom intuous 3 6X11 widescreen tablet to use with it.

As for anticipation, im lucky enough to be on holidays up to my expected delivery time^_^

After having recently purchased a "gently used" NP5793 from bwhxeon, I'm in the same boat. I've been trying to kill time ever since I sent in my m15x for a refund almost 3 weeks ago, and I've still got a week or so left until I'll finally be back in business.

I started killing the time by picking up hours at work, but I can only take so much of that. The next thing that popped into my mind was my ancient HP Pavilion dv5000, and how ugly it was. So I decided to paint it. :]

Now, I'm spending most of my time bouncing between reading the forums, playing flash games [I'm the only PC gamer in the house, so nobody else's computer can handle real games], and waiting for paint to dry so I can do the next layer. :p

Oh, and I've been sleeping in. A lot.

I already have mine. But I know the feeling waiting. It was worst the night before it's scheduled delivery. It got worse and worse as the day went on. The worst part was that there was road work in my neighborhood at the time. So there were a LOT of trucks that going by my house that day that I SWEAR sounded just like a UPS truck! :D :p

yeah guys it's like this is some kind of fabled imaginary laptop or something that we have taken months out of our lives to wait for (those of us who got the m860tu).

We should actually create some kind of party thread or something the day the first person gets theirs. I'll bring the digital cake! lol

yeah marder, looks pretty cool. I'm still not sure what I'll do, guess i got to wait and see the lappy first.

How much does laser etiching cost, and is that something you would have to send the lappy away for?

    Anyone ever painted theirs?

I'm leaving mine until I'm sure I'm happy with it before I paint/etch/skin whatever.

But I'm not sure I'd want to put something on top of that sexy aluminium. Paint would just cover up all its lovely texture.

looks, like you can wait, another 10 days at least. (see http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=283023 )

Great, now even more time, if I wasn't going insane already, It's like I'm so close to canceling my order, and just buying something with a confirmed shipping date. When I ordered my lappy 2 weeks (more like 2 years) ago, I never thought it would be this much of a wait. I could be owning up on some n00bs with an Alienware by now, heck... I could order an AW today, and still get it probably 2 weeks before the first person gets their NP8660.

See, these are the worse thoughts to have, haha.

I don't know, things just generally going wrong. No HD3870; no SSD; unexpected, uncomfirmed delays...

Anyone want to take bets on WUXGA being (temporarily) cancelled (by Sager, not Clevo)?

The problem with starting so many threads to discuss the same thing is that you miss the posts that were made even before you start your new thread.

See my post from August 5th in the Clevo M860TU thread

The fact is that there is no "official" word from Sager at this point even though their website says "Early August" in one place and "8/8/08" in another, and when you call them the sales people there are only able to give you their own "best guess" of 10 days to two weeks.

Given all this great information my best guess, as stated in the post referenced above, is mid-August for the WSXGA+ and a little later in August for the WUXGA.

I'm in the boat of I came here eyeballing the Sager 2096, then I got turned onto the MSI 1651 barebones, and now I'm eyeing the higher end Sagers.

I work as a nurse, so I can pick up as much overtime as I want. I took the cost of a full MSI 1651 and I just (as of 41 minutes ago) - earned enough OT time to completely pay for it. But I wanted to wait for some reviews of the 1651 before I ordered it. . . now I might just work some more overtime to get a Sager 8660.

This **** is a disease. I had no idea about all of these laptop options until I came to these forums and now I'm overwhelmed with the sheer volume of options. I can't fathom how people by Dells and stuff now.

It really sucks that the machines have still not been released or even received by Sager. It sucks more if it's truly delayed another 10 days.

Still -- I'd rather have a machine that has been thoroughly tested and is ready to be supported by Clevo and Sager than to have something earlier with bugs and poor support. The wait is worth it; plus, we've been waiting this long -- what's another 10 days (for you college-bound kids, that is more frustrating, but it's worth it to wait and get what you want rather than settling, isn't it?)?

As far as 9800M GTX or quad core goes, your expectations were just puffed up by PCMW offering things they couldn't deliver. As far as the mobility HD3870 goes, that might still be offered, but at a later date, and its performance is supposed to be lesser than a 9800M GT; moreover, if you'd pre-ordered with that component through a Sager reseller, you'd have been upgraded to the higher-end 9800M GT free of charge. SSDs would have been offered only if they improved the quality of the product, not detracted from it, which is exactly what Sager thought they might do at this point in time. Just another great example of Sager's quality control. If you really want a SSD, try to talk with a reseller about getting a machine without a disk drive and then order your own SSD. Better yet, wait until SSDs are faster, cheaper, more reliable, and higher capacity by the end of the year or next year and then purchase one for a major performance boost, making it seem better-than-new :) In the meantime, I'm sure that the cheapest HDD Sager offers will tide you over just fine.

Good things come to those that wait. Just exercise a little patience.
