The P170EM new bios

Clevo keep their options pretty closed so new bios updates are released to address specific issues rather than add new features so the interface wont change.

 

So, how to know the correct what? Wishing to appear the unlocked BIOS, to shield the integrated graphics

 

You can't, it must be on in this machine since all the display outputs are wired to it, so if you turn off the integrated graphics the internal and any external monitors will go dark.

But because Clevo have been encrypting their bios it can't be modified anyway.

3. Update LAN option ROM (Legacy PXE 2.51, UEFI PXE 2017).
4. Please follow the instruction of readme.txt to update firmware.

How to flash BIOS ROM:

1. Plug in AC adaptor.
2. Enter CMOS setup to disable "Intel Anti-Theft Technology" if the item is available.
3. Enter CMOS setup to check the EC firmware version, if the version is 1.00.xx then it is necessary to update EC firmware at first.
4. Run Meset.exe under pure DOS environment, system will restart automatically.
5. Run flashme.bat under pure DOS, system will shut down automatically.
6. Plug off AC adapter for 5 seconds then plug in AC adapter.
7. Power on system, the system will restart automatically.
8. Enter CMOS setup to check BIOS version and load system default, save changes and reboot.
9. If the original BIOS settings are different from system default, please enter CMOS setup to change BIOS settings before system loads Windows.

Is the gpu fan bug fixed littlecx? Since u have already flashed. Give some feedback because new updates have always introduced bugs.

no. it's not fixed. so far no other problem. after update i open dvbviewer and it took longer to start up for the first time. second time back to normal. this is because of vbios update?

 

Whats differences in this 1.02.16?

Fan is controlled by EC and as this is a BIOS update only it won't change how the fan works.

 

Anyone flashed also? Am I still the first and only one here after pkuzjq post the link?

 

OK, i got all that, and i saw all that before.. what i haven't seen is what this fan bug is.. this is the first i have even heard of it..

 

I'm using 1.02.16 too.

 

I just downloaded the 1.02.16 bios from my supplier (BTO).

Two questions:

1. I suppose there is no list with improvements of the new bios?
2. Is the EC still at level 1.02.12 ? I thought I read that someone had an EC 1.02.14 and a bios 1.02.16 loaded on his new machine.

 

Latest BIOS is v17 latest EC is v12 for the 17" inch and v11 for the 15"inch models. (Also In my sig)

 

Is it worth the time and effort to do this flash?

 

That depends on how much you value 30 seconds...

I am not aware of any "unintended" bugs in v17, so yeah no harm done doing it. :hi2:

Yes typically they get retired to critical only updates after the next series is released.
