just curious/wondering, I think i already know that it possible but I just want to make sure others say so too :)

Because I plan to buy the base $16??.?? config but I would liek to upgrade it in the future to the extreme C2D's and the 8800gtx....

Just wondering is this possible, because i heard that the 5793 was made to support the higher temps of the X9000...so that means If i buy the 5793 I can and will be able to upgrade it to the X9000 if i wish to later.
and then I heard many say that [this applies to other laptops too] when you buy a lappy with more than one config available, that means that you can upgrade to those specs and that it will be compatible.

    True? OR False?

Don't know about any other laptops, but I can say for sure that, if you buy the 5793 from a reseller who is offering, in ascending order of upgrade-ness CPUs A, B, C, and D, and you initially buy it with CPU A, you will be able to upgrade it to a B, C, or D later on (provided you can find one).

?? Aah, ok, buy a 5793 from xoticpc with a T8100, then buy an X9000, stick it into the socket, and see if it doesn't blow up. If it doesn't, Bob's yer uncle.

    -_-....meanie.

I would like someone who ACTUALLY has done it..doesn't have to be the X9000...just need to know they done a cpu and gpu upgrade and it was a success...but this person has to have started with the T8100+8700gt config ;)

But don't forget that when you replace 8700 with 8800,you won't be able to sell it off.So better get a 8800 now.

I'm sorry. I was feeling a little spiteful just then, and I apologize for that. If you want to get the straight-up from someone who's done a GPU swap, I think Nirvana's right that you should contact zfactor - just send him a pm - he knows what he's doing, and he's nobody's fanboy, so he'll give you the honest guff from first-hand experience. I don't know for sure, but he probably has the wisdom on a CPU swap, too.

already PMed him waiting on a reply ;)
so far the MXM forums on laptopvideo2go mentioned that it is possible and that sleep will crash the lappy...so hibernate is advised....but thats ALL...no guide, no first-hand exp. (unlike zfactor, unless his sig is a LIE...>_>..T_T) ...lol and no pics ;)....still waiting to see if zfactor can shed light on the how-to's :p

what are you talking about? zfactor made a video to prove he wasn't lying about the both sleep and hibernate issues.

I just realized that zfactor has the 579 1....I'm asking about the 579 3

Is there a quantum leap between the two?

@Nirvana: ...I was joking about the " (unlike zfactor, unless his sig is a LIE...>_>..T_T)"

the latest bios fixed the sleep issues in 5791s, though i think unintentionally, because they want you to send your notebook in for motherboard mods if you go 8700>8800...

the 5793 has an upgraded cooling system and minor motherboard mods to support 8800

....if you don't believe the reseller and you don't believe people who have actually done the upgrade, perhaps you shouldn't be buying this laptop.

No; incremental. The cooling solution has evolved to be a bit more robust, and the mobo was given a minor revision in order to deal with a potential sleep issue vis-a-vis the 8800 (or, at least that's what was publicly claimed - zfactor has been able to go to the 8800 without doing the mobo upgrade and so far hasn't been afflicted with the claimed sleep issue; some take the position that it just Clevo yanking everyone's chains; I think that it was a real, but relatively rare issue with the chipset, and that the rareness explains why a lot of folks have been able to go to the 8800Ms without a mobo upgrade - it's a little shocking at first to see how many defects Intel CPUs and chipsets have when you read through the errata sheets they release for each product).
