Someone had tried to use dell 7970m card on MSI 16F2 units. Is there anyone used P150EM/P150HM to try this?

Not yet we're all waiting around to see if Clevo really screwed up or not

They claimed they are no longer adding support for newer cards in older models. However AMD cards rarely need support.

Oh, to follow up, yes I'm 99% sure it will work on the p150em. The older p150hm, w860cu generations are the ones we're worried about.

And btw, when I say waiting around, thats waiting for YOU to try it. :)

"The Dell cards work in the old Clevo HM P-series, but it shuts down quite soon, due to a difference in how the card reports temps to the EC.
We will have to wait for Clevo 7970M (vbios/maybe even card)"

From "prema"..... it seems that there is some problem to install dell 7970m on clevo units...

yup, thats why its advised to use a Clevo card for a Clevo laptop, makes sense right? :) Dell cards are for Alienware laptops :p mythlogic said that preliminary results look very promising on both the EM and HM series, so im not worrying all too much ;)

    cheers

Dell 7970M cards do NOT work on the Clevo P1x0EM series. Myth has been trying to get a Dell 7970M working on these machines without success for a while. The EC cant read the temps, thinks the GPU is burning up and shuts the laptop down.
MABY a Dell card might work if it could be flashed to the Clevo vBios, but in the past thats how Dell cards got bricked so dont get your hopes up (ironically it worked the other way round - flashing a Dell vBios onto a Clevo card).
Just get a Clevo card if you intend to use it in a Clevo (and vice versa). Sure the Dell cards usually have slightly better vRAM but overclocking that slightly more wont give you any real performance gain - its the core clock that matters most here.

P150EM new bios and ec released, on bios and ec03, P150EM even can not install 6990m, when install 6990m into p150em, it will pop up noise and shut down. now after flash bios and ec 04, 6990m can be installed normally, So didn't know if anyone had dell 7970m can try it again....
