I looked inside my M570ru and I saw a soldered wire between the HDD and the audio jack. It goes from a resistor to a chip on the right (when audio ports are towards you). Could any1 take close up pictures of this to see if this was added by eurocom?

    Thank you!

No, gophn posted this same image in another thread. But I really need a closer picture of the upper left corner of this picture. Right below the HDD (On top of the HDD on this picture).

Well, could you take a closer picture of it? See if you also have a soldered wire?

Cause I doubt clevo would release the laptop like that...

In my system, there is a black wire where between the HDD and Audio Jacks. I marked it in red in this picture. Do you confirm that there is no such thing on your system?

If you have time? How could you not have time?

I only say this because you imply that Eurocom has "done something" to your laptop that (through implication) is the source of your problems... Before you make that assertion or implication, I would suggest you have a responsibility to contact them --- BEFORE you besmirch their name. Now you have an immediate responsibility to find out. So make the time.

Yes I planned on contacting them, because I want to fix the problem. As I said in my posts, I believe eurocom did solder that wire on the board, not clevo. Im not saying they actually did it, I'm saying that I believe they did, because other people with the same laptop does not have any soldered wire there.

As for time, eurocom isnt open in the evening, and I work during the day, so it will depend how busy I am at work...

it IS possible people don't have time, you know ... not right away in any case
also, he was inquiring to find out if it was done by eurocom ... after getting information from people with the same system, but from a different reseller, he concluded it was (probably) eurocom. I don't know about you, but I find that a logical assumption. I'm not saying it's right ... it could be added by Clevo after all. So he should get in touch with Eurocom. But he's at least entitled to 1) drawing logical conclusion and 2) talk to Eurocom at HIS convenience, not at yours.

Besides, what if Eurocom says it wasn't them and he comes back and post their reply. You'll believe them right away? One could also assume they're lying, in order to stay out of trouble?
And, when you assume they are right, what would your conclusion then be?
1: lawlz lies? (and there is something similar in his notebook)
2: idiamond lies? (and there i absolutely nothing in his notebook)
3: Clevo sells different barebones to different manufacturers? (But why?)
    ...?

This user forum is valuable --- very valuable actually -- but that value increases or decreases with the quality of information and contributions by the posters. I'll spare you examples of such, but "grrrr Eurocom" prior to even contacting them is a waste of all our time....

Now "Grrr Eurocom" after confirming that the issue originates with them --- that would be stellar and I would applaud it. But once the guy has thrown them under the bus he has an obligation to get right ontop of it -- for Eurocom and the rest of us -- because people use this board to make purchase decisions. Seems simple to me.

It's also simple and read that he has not contacted them (yet).
It's up to the readers to decide what to do with them.

And even without final confirmation, I think people have the right to be informed when there's something strange. Then can decide whether to go by that information or not.

Dude.... I'm just waiting to buy a system.... It's between Eurocom & Xotic.... your post has me concerned enough to hold and delay my purchase decision. That just cost Eurocom some money because I was seconds away from calling them....

    Now I wait.

If it bothers you that much, you can call in yourself, and check up with them? Ask if they make any modifications at all?
Then, when you get your laptop and it's modified, you can contact them and confront them with what they claimed earlier.

Eurocom said the Wifi should be working, they say its either my wifi card or the main board that is the problem. They said they'd need to take a look at it, the system is only a few weeks old, barely ever turned on... I'm waiting to know what this would cost...

No word about the soldered wire tho.

I sent an email with 2 questions, one being about the soldered wire, and they only answered the first question. I sent another email about it, awaiting response.

The answer of one of the tech support agent was that he never heard of any soldered wire.

I will take pictures of it this weekend and send it to them so they can tell me if its factory standard on some rev of the mainboard (Which I suppose could be, but that would be kinda bad for a high end laptop...).

Apparently, on this rev of the mainboard, the pci-e ports are inverted, so the wifi goes next to the tv-tuner antenna... pretty weird.

    And is that normal?
I mean ... lalwz said his laptop didn't have it.
Are there different versions of the M570RU?

Yes, my version of the mainboard is different, Lalwz has 2 different sockets for his pci-e ports, mine are exactly the same. His wifi card is located in a different port (Fn+F11 doesnt control the same port). As for the soldered wire, I'll send them more info so they can tell me if its factory standard. Ill post pictures here this weekend, when I have access to a camera.

Alright, apparently on my rev of the mainboard, they inverted the two PCI-e ports. I dont know whether its a production error or wanted, but the antennas are not correctly placed for this setup. You can manage to get the wireless antennas at the right place, but the TV tuner antenna will definitely be too short.

I'll try to get an answer from eurocom about that as well.

    Seems odd :)
Maybe your laptop was the first production, and then they noticed they made a little error and corrected it afterwards. And lawlz got his laptop from a second production?

I can't imagine Clevo would launch and maintain 2 versions off the same laptop :) ... just wouldn't be economical :)

I'd actually think mine is the second version of the board... they figured out something about the pci port so they had to make modifications on it but didnt reroute the antennas. Maybe they also had to solder a wire because of a pcb error or something. But thats still to be confirmed, I'll post more info once I get it.

What're you using for a WiFi card in that case? If it's Mini-PCI, the Fn-F11 switch will not work. I was using an Intel 3945 for the longest time and recently switched to a Dell 1490 miniPCI-E card for OSX86 compatibility. Once I did that, my Fn-F11 switch started working perfectly.

Fortunately, getting a MiniPCI-E card is very cheap... $10 or so off Ebay. Now that I freed up the MiniPCI slot I want to find a GSM HSDPA 3G modem... antennas will be a problem though.
