Hello!
I'm looking for a 15" gaming laptop, and Clevo M860TU seems really good!
Tho I live in sweden I'm looking for EU resellers and found Kobalt computer which should be the same hardware as Sager but re-branded.
NOW, the things I wanna know is. Does the Kobalt / Clevo 15" suffer from the over-heating-down-clocking-problem? My Znote suffers from this so I'm gonna throw it out of the window. I also know several ASUS, ACER and Alienware laptops that suffers from this. Im just so tired of this ****. Spending $2000 on a laptop that just overheats and goes down to 15 FPS in every single game.
Any 15" Kobalt / Clevo user out there that can share their oppionions and such?
Thanks!
CreX

My Nexus does not appear to have any overheating issues at this stage (P9500, 320gig 7200rpm HDD, 9800GT). The guys at Kobalt provide top quality service as well - I couldn't speak more highly of them.

I've been stress testing my new Kobalt Nexus quite a lot... The only thing I can say (even if I already said it quite a lot) is... Wowwwwwwwwwww!
This machine is absolutely cool, no CPU or GPU overheating or downclocking. My HDD hovers around the 45ºC on iddle and mid 50ºC under heavy usage. The laptop is also very quiet for the high end machine it is... My nexus is in my back, stress testing its CPU, and the fan is really not loud at all. And when you try silent mode... Oh man!
If you are looking for a laptop and a company... I would highly recommend the combination Kobalt-Nexus. Very little can go wrong there... -

Hi CreX
ive just received my Nexus this morning and am still half asleep so have not had much of a chance to do any testing yet. as mentioned above and comparing it to the m15x this laptop is the dogs dangly bits. its taking me a little while getting used to the screen resolution as ive been used to a off the shelf fujitsu from dixons/currys since my m15x went back.
give Kobalt a call, you wont be disapointed. (website & forum in my sig below). -
The world will end, mrDJ has a laptop!!!!
Have fun with the beast!
-
Just a small note, the manufacturer is not Sager, they are simply the main US distributor. The laptop is made by Clevo and is a Clevo M860TU. If you order it outside the US, Sager has NOTHING to do with it

thanks ioaniro,i will.
just getting used to everything now.
first 3Dmark06 score was 9223 and second 9226
and HD running at roughly 52c -
Getting mine tomorrow i hope (provided that the delivery person comes when someone is in the house, and knowing my luck they won't!)
-
Cool! many getting clevo's! Please take a long gaming night and push it to its limit for some hours and write here again!
Im playing WAR atm on my Znote and gettings sick of overheating -> fps drop. -
Hows the battery life on it, guys?
-
Milcs, will you STOP stress testing the poor little thing?! You'll wear it out! You've already decided that it's the perfect little beast, so just kick back and enjoy it now!
Don't say I didn't warn you! -
just played crysis for over an hour and im getting
HD 54c
GPU 66c
cores 1&2 56c
ACPI 55c -
Cats got a pointThe comp must be asking why it got given to u stressing it out all the time
-
After 3hours of COD4 I have with my NC1000
ACPI: 74c
cores1: 67c and 2:65c
GPU: 70c
HD: 47c
I'm a little concerned about the temps of the ACPI and the GPU. I think that I should take the NC2000 instead. -
You guys must be on something... 70C is amazing.
On Crysis my GPU is always around 80-90C and I consider that to be good.
I think that the 66C on Crysis from MrDjay are very.... weird. It's just not possible!
Regarding the stressing... that's what I do to everything I love. Drive them to the limits... insane... to see if they are worth it. -
After crysis benchmark 5 runs my temps were:
ACPI 43 min 41 max 70
CPU 27 min 25 max 58
GPU 36 min 35 max 67
HDD 47 min 47 max 54 -
those temps are great.
its possible as its true.
i did copy the image but photobucket was off line last night so i couldnt post the image.
dont forget, ive not changed any drivers exept that HD one on the first day.
the only time i get to 60 or 61c is when im defraging or stuff like that.while gaming its cool like a cucumber (where does that saying come from, cucumbers arent cool). -

I don't get it...
Why do I have like... 20C more playing crysis than most people?
Its weird... For instance, regarding Furmark, my laptop reaches 89C, 5C more than MrDJs doing the same... On crysis, 20C difference? I don't know what's going on...
After I finish what I have to do, we have to meet to compare our precious... -
Might want to check in the meantime if your vents are opened, maybe there's some plastic foil still around? -
yeh i read about someone opening their clevo and found plastic in the vent area arghhh!!!
-
There's a bit of plastic under my battery...
-
Gratz on getting it cat!

bump. photobucket back on line. heres the temps from last nights crysis session.
oopps, i wrote the wrong temp down for the acpi, sorry milcs. i also put the value instead of the max. i was tired after my first day back at work after 7 weeks. -
AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Your GPU is more or less, 5ºC lower than mine. That's not bad.
On crysis, normally (Except last level), I get around 84ºC max temperature for the GPU. That's fine for me... -
ve surrounded my nexus with cucumbers :0
-
Random! Are you using a coolling mat, DJ? Can't remember if you are or not. -
livesoft,those are great temps. -
-
I can clearly see that you have no need to go looking for nude women on the internet as the Nexus is all you need to get you going
...just kidding man.
i was told that mine should arrive mid next week. cant wait.
(sorry if the first comment was a little crude)#
And also its safe to say that livesoft is a fan of Team Fortress 2... i.e OMG***BBQ. Those are some fantastic temps though. Im sure it's enough to give hope to those worrying about the HDD temps.
