I love this notebook.. feels very light for a 17", but still rock solid build -
Well, mine just shipped yesterday!
-
shipped one month ago (see configuration on my signature) and I am totally happy with it. No problems with Vista 64 bit. Thinking to upgrade the processor as soon there is an official bios update.
-
Waiting for mine to be built:
D901C
q9450
4GB
200 GB 7200 rpm
8800m GTX -
Woo-Hoo! I just got my D901C from RJTech.com this past Monday. I haven't had time, but I finally got to installing Windows XP last night. I downloaded my drivers and then using nLite to slipstream them into my existing Windows XP SP2 CD. It worked like a charm! This was needed because I have the SATA controller working in AHCI mode. I'm going to try to run Ubuntu as my main OS, but XP for gaming.
Here is my original thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=236011
Here are my specs:
17" WUXGA (1920x1200) GlassView LCD
Single nVidia 8800M GTX 512MB
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 from Microcenter for $199
GeIL 4GB DDR2/800 from Newegg for $105
2 x HITACHI Travelstar 7K200 200GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive from Newegg for $165 each
8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
And of course; Bluetooth, Wireless 802.11 ABGN
First impression: WOW! It's huge! Am I trying to make up for something? I love it! The noise! I can't stand the noise! It's whisper quiet. I want to know that I'm crunching numbers, but it's dead quiet, even when I'm running some benchmarks. My 3Dmark06 score with nVidia 6.14.11.7482 drivers were around 10,800. Not bad, but I think I can do better when I have enough time. Pixels, dang! I found 2 hot pixels, but if I get 1 more then I get to trade it in. There could be some improvements on the keyboard layout (duh, for that size have it's up PgUp/PgDn and other functions keys laid out). My other IBM laptop with a smaller keyboard has room that all that. Also, on the keyboard layout... why couldn't a volume nob instead of function keys.
I spent the first night assembling my rig with the hard drives, memory, disassembling fans and reassmebling. Applying thermal paste and stuff. Ahhh, it was the most fun I've had in ages. I love assembling computer hardware. It's such an art with love and care to see your creation come to life. I can proudly look at it and know that I've help to build that powerful machine.
I'm not going to be running raid, but will have the 1st HD as OS, programs and games, but 2nd hard drive for my generated data. I'll update with more info as it develops. -

Good idea Prasad, and congrats, I know you've been looking to buy the sager for a while and you went through xotic. Good choice. I think you'll have a fine machine
-
He might not have bought it from xotic or sager, maybe pcmw
-
I bought it through XoticPC... My config says this at the end "(Extra 2 Year Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)"..
-
Mine got shipped 8 months ago lol
-
have had my sager np5793 for a couple weeks nows. took about 7 days from order placed to getting it in my hands. same gut specs as then m15x I had, penryn 2.5ghz, 8800M GTX, 4Gb RAM, just a little bigger and less flashy.. oh and no downclocking
-
I've had mine for 6 days now, i would have thought Prasad you would get yours first..
I'm satisfied nevertheless... noise level could do with some improvement, but it's not a major factor, The touchpad sometimes double clicks for no reason, anyone else had this problem, when i had synaptics installed it was worse...

I guess whenever someone makes another new Sager thread...
He should be redirected here!
And this should be stickied!
It's the official new Clevo thread after all!!
-
well, new is a short lived-term. So a thread like this can get old fast....
However I still consider my laptop as brand new -
Hmm... well, the purpose is to prevent all those new Clevo threads for each purchase from the forum members... and it all goes in here, like in the Dell section... I found it a fantastic idea...
It's better than all those similar topics stacking up
-
Sadly, everyone that gets a new Clevo will post a new thread. That's why I have my page setup so that is shows more than 10 threads a page

I'm getting mine tomorrow in the evening.

Orange Trim
I cant wait! -
wow, this is the thread for me. I'm still on hold as I'm now deciding whether to wait until June for the new model, or go ahead and be more than happy with the 5793 with orange trim of course! Since I will be using it for gaming, I don't mind the fans or the noise, but I'll also be using it for work and meetings too, and after reading all the complaints, it's really my only reservation at this point. If it's anything like my old HP zd8000, I shouldn't have any problems, but I'm not sure if what I'm reading is from people with a low tolerance for fan noise.
I feel like I'm torturing myself at this point -
I think I was once in your position dozerking. m9750 vs. m15x vs. p-6831fx vs. np5793 vs. m860tu vs. m1730 vs. hdx (hell yeaaa 20") vs. np9262
-
exactly nirvana! lol.. what a pain in the arse this is..I know i'll be happy with the 5793, it seems to be the best choice for the price out of all of them, and I need to act soon
-
wow, after looking at the p-6831fx again, the only problem I see with that laptop is the processor, which seems like a potential bottleneck, but wow, that's some good hardware for the price.
-
there is a new model of gateway now, P-172 S FX, with 2.0ghz for $1399
what are your choices? maybe i can break them down for you. -
internal news from Bestbuy, there will be a sale regarding the p-6860fx (refreshed model 1.83Ghz) within 2 weeks. possibly $1249.99
-
I'm between the 9262 and 5793. After looking at the gateways, for that price plus the easy upgrade, that's an outstanding deal, albeit, not as good quality as a Sager i'm guessing. I've already decided against any Alienware after a bad experience, although I would love a m9750 if they allowed for 8800's in them, but oh well. It's going to be for gaming, but work as well.
-
gateway users had reported that there are flex everywhere on the laptop except the bottom. and no you can't upgrade the gpu on it. about the 9262 and 5793, its simply between you want a SLI or not. however, a twice as powerful gpu would probably come out after 2 years if history repeats itself.
-
Yeah, while the SLI is enticing, it doesn't give that much of a boost in performance as I thought it would. This is why I'm pretty much in the 5793 corner, as I also like the portability that it offers, and the orange band is a slam dunk, not to mention I'll be traveling quite a bit. I was just about to order it the other day when I started reading the thread about the newer version coming in June, and that's where I am now. With the new processor, I'm not sure if it's worth waiting for, but the added HDMI and e-sata port would be nice. I do need it by the summer time when I'll be working longer hours and doing much of my traveling for work.
-
unlike alienware, sager are prompt on shipping, so you don't have to worry about the whole "parts are currently backorder" thing. centrino 2 is not only offering new cpu but also DDR3, which i think would be a noticeable difference.
-
Got mine 1 week ago and i couldnt be happier, and as for the noise the firmware upgrade did the trick.
All i need now is to learn to OC the gpu, and make the Extreme Edition lettering on the case realy mean something. -
Specs are in my sig.
-
yeah, the T9300 seems to be the best choice in the 5793, especially price wise, considering the next step up is far more expensive.
-
got mine in december from cizmo. and still waiting for my swedish keyboard they were suppost to add to the laptop..instead i got an american. besides there f**k ups the laptop is great just check my sig.
