Epiphany! I think I might just have grasped a little of the candle-flame's allure to the moth as it flies in toward certain immolation - 'cause this post will undoubtedly garner a lotta heat, but I can no longer resist, so here goes:

Those fulminating about the Clevo being a "complete ****ing ripoff" and etc should now have a bone-deep (or perhaps that should be wallet-deep) understanding about why it's called "bleeding edge technology," - 'cause when you play on that edge, you (often) get bled.

Ok, I await the inevitable (and justly deserved) "immolation."

    Cheers

dell doesn't have any probs with GPU upgrading. every gen you buy 1 notebook and you can upgrade all the GPU's of that generation.

Again, this is mostly speculation. Wait until we hear something from Clevo. But it is a bit ridiculous to have to have a new MOBO for something like a new video card swap. You would have thought that they would have thought a bit ahead. I think it's short sighted on Clevo's part, IMO. With MXM IV being specific and ? propriatary to D901C's you would think that they would have talked to Nividia and ensured that the upgrade later would not have been a problem. Again just IMO.

Hi, so I am lost now is this true? That the current Sager NP9261 can't upgrade to the new NVIDIA 8800M GTX? But wate they came out with the new 9261 is to support QUAD and SLI 8700 GT. So it should be safe to say that it should support the SLI 8800M GTX without having a new motherboard.

the D900K had all cards from 6800 to 7950GTX without new mobo. :)

The D900T was the whipping boy... for the D900K to get that ability. ;)

If what Ice-Tea states is true that both the 570ru and the D901C will both require a mobo upgrade to use 8800's, then clevo IMO has taken a step backwards.

Guys... this will be my first... and last gaming laptop... until those "fake upgrade" stop

this whole deal really will piss me off if i cant get the 8800. so much so ill never buy clevo anything or sager for that matter again and im sure there will be a ton of others that will do the same. i was also told by someone i know they are fully interchangable but i guess we will have to wait and see.. i assume if rjtech is offering it as a upgrade we should be okay. but how the heck are they getting their hands on the right now. i was told there are none to ship at this time..???

here is a quote from RJTECH

The 7950GTX should be gone after the 8800 is ready.

Please check us back till you are ready to order, then we can assure if the 8800
    is ready or not.

The 8800 will be available in the end of next month, but it will be available
for single card only. We don't know if the dual card will be available or not,
it is still too early to tell.

Thats an extra +$395 over a regular 8700M GT.

RJTech sells 7950GTX's on their site for $549.00 (these are for D900T's), on the D901C page you can see the 7950GTX is $100 more than the 8700M GT.

549+295=$844 Not probably the true price but since we are playing a guessing game here and throwing numbers around, it's about as factual as anything else.

If they are indeed that good.

1 will be as good as your 7950gtx's in sli.

    what would 2x8800's be?

Does anyone know what the cost of the desktop 8800 GTX when it was released. I am curious how much more or if the 8800M GTX is the same price.

I spoke with 3 people in the industry. All of them say it is upgradeable without a MOBO upgrade.

    Don't believe the Diss-Information

This whole thread is proof of one big problem, and that is communication with the manufacturer, or better the absence of such communication.

This is without doubt the most powerful notebook in the world, in fact its is a kind of hybrid desktop/notebook PC. Obviously this causes some design problems as we have noticed.

Now Clevo doesn't sell these notebooks with their own brandname, but instead they use all kind of OEM resellers.Personally I don't like that very much, because now we have to look very hard for resellers and the model numbers they use for these notebooks. The result of this sales policy is that we as end users don't have contact with Clevo. Nice for Clevo, not for us.

It would be very nice if a representative of Clevo or Sager (as biggest? reseller) would be part of this forum. He could clarify all of these matters and questions we have about this very fast and very expensive notebook. Many of the owners seem to be very keen to keep it the fastest notebook around, and are willing to spend quite a lot of money to accomplish that. I think it is not to much to ask that such a person joins this forum, and give us authorized answers to our questions. In fact it may stimulated sales if it is known that you can ask these questions in this forum.

nah the thing is... they want us to spend as much as possible... xotic already know if its compatible or not... its just lame... its not compatible with the current version and they know it...

like justin says in his email... theres a new motherboard comming the 6dec... why a new motherboard if its compatible... because its not compatible... and that suck

Another 10days to wait! so just dont buy any clevo/sager for 10-15days until the new motherboard is out!

I've built many gaming pc's over the years, and remember doing the same thing.... upgrading my mobo when a new processor comes out...finding out that the new graphics cards are longer and your mobo has no room for it etc...
Clevo can't be held resposible for not having a motherboard capable of a graphics card that wasn't available at the time.... Like somebody else said here, if you want bleeding edge technology, you're gonna have to bleed.
