God dangit.
-
interesting... I'll follow up on this soon with the 8700M GT (MXM Type III) card for the M570RU and D900C.
which fits into the Type IV slot and is compatible. -
Yep. I'd like to know if that one boots. Unfortuntately, I don't have another 700$ laying around to toss out the window.

Better be carefull. Next time I toss away 700$ I will probably be tossed out the window too. Given the air friction/mass ratio for a dollar bill and a plump mass of about 200 pounds I'd probably land on you before you even see a bill

UPDATE:
(from Ice-Tea)
Article here
(4 august 2007):
From time to time we forward some information or an article to the nice folks over at nVidia. When we forwarded this one we first got a rather evasive answer wich was followed up by a more to the point one. "Type IV" seems to be backed by nVidia after all. They have been working on it with their partners but were hesitant to release it in the open because it wasn't final yet. Now it's out, and as far as we know mxm-upgrade.com is the first to get the word out. I haven't seen any official spec yet, so I can only rely on what I've seen: Type IV is a longer Type HE. We have no idea whether there are other changes. One thing that's been nagging: where is the SLI link? Maybe that's part of the "Type IV" spec? And maybe this is why the card wouldn't boot?

So the new MXM-IV is really here and its not HE. Interesting indeed.
Only the new Clevo's seem to have such a slot in their D900C and M570RU at the moment.. leave it to Clevo to manufacture notebooks with (literally) cutting-edge technology before anyone else.
Game on People,

Thanks for the update, Goph. Been a bit busy
-
well great news... but along with the expectations
-
Hey Gophn, any word if the MXM-III 8700M's worked in the M570RU or the D900C?
-
