    Hi ppl,
I'm about to order my new P150EM with the HD7970M, and my store has the following options for thermal compound:

    Arctic MX-4
    Arctic Silver 5
    Zalman ZM-STG1
    Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra
    Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 Carat

One week ago, if someone would ask me about this I would go for IC 7, but... after reading some bad feedback about IC 7 (regarding some "scratchs"), I don't know what to choose...
    Can someone help me? ;)

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all

The best is the Liquid Ultra, but I wouldn't want to mess with it.

The next best would be Prolimatech PK-1, from reviews, benches I've seen it consistently beats all the others you listed other than the liquid metal TIMs.

Why you don't want to mess with Liquid Ultra? I'm kinda noob about thermal compound, so all the feedback is useful for me to learn :p
Btw the guys at the store are the one putting the thermal compound not me.

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all

Scratching with IC Diamond will only be an issue if you're frequently removing and replacing the thermal compound. It doesn't sound like you're going to do that (if you were, you probably would be going with the stock thermal compound and pasting it yourself), so don't worry too much about it.

The reason that messing around with Liquid Ultra isn't suggested seems to be that it can be somewhat tedious to install or replace; however, from what I've heard about it it really does seem to be the best. If you're not going to be repasting frequently - or replacing the CPU or GPU - go with it.

That said, people seem to either have a single compound that they swear by, or not to care too much. I'm in the later camp; unless you're overclocking, it probably won't matter too much which compound you get as long as it's not the stock.

    Nah toothpaste.

I use mx4 because its easy to use, gives consistent results and is cheap.

    Hi ppl,
What do you guys think about GELID Solutions GC-Extreme Thermal paste compared to IC diamond 7?

I'm asking after reading some good feedback from users on this forum.

    Thank you,
    Best Regards to all

its really good. I have tried ICD7, AC5, AC MX4 and a few others and Gelid gave me the lowest temps. I am currently using it on my p150em and my 7970m barely touches 80c in furmark. my 3720qm can do 3.4ghz on all 4 cores in prime for 5+ minutes and it also only just about breaks 80c mark.

Nice :D Did you use the Applicator that comes with the GELID Extreme package to spread the paste?

    Thank you,

Ive tried PK-1, ICD and GELID. GELID was the winner and are crowned with torture on my GPU and CPU die.

i did not use the applicator as I find that line or pea method always works best for me - it prevents air bubbles from forming in the compound.

MX4 and IC Diamond are the coolest among thermal pastes'
also if not the most used to withhold cool temperatures

    :)
