What will the change in temperture be between the 9800m GTX and 9800m GTS? Is a 9800m GTX still safe or is it really pushing the limit and sometimes breaking it? Does it increase the HDD's temperture as well?
I don't really know if I want a GTX in my 860tu because it gets hotter. I don't plan on using a notebook cooler as I'd like to carry my notebook around a lot. I've got no more place in my backpack to fit a notebook cooler...

So what's your opinion on this?

I'm not sure the BIOS supports the 860TU, but if it does, I'd be careful with heat. I think you'd be fine if you left everything stock. On stock clocks in my M570TU, the card maxes around 65C.

[This is assuming that the GTX will even fit in this notebook]

Well, I wouldn't risk it. My overclocked 9800GT can get up to 86°C, and I have to assume that the stock GTX would be pushing well over 90+ degrees under load. I just don't think that it's a safe decision. If even extreme companies like Killer Notebooks and PCMW aren't trying it, then that says it probably isn't a good move.

Of course it doesn't, but you may need some serious mods in order to do it...

    Anyone up for it?

I think its on one of the last few pages it says someone was going to get a GTX kit and put it on...never says how it went though...

Well, it's a stock option from the reseller I'd like to buy from...
Think I'll go with the 9800m gts instead though.

I think thats a typo and meant to be 9800M GTS as I'm not aware of a 512mb 9800M GTX

There's a 9600m GTS listed, this card doesn't exist. I contacted them and they said it was actually the 9800m GTS. They confirmed there were 2 different GTX's though...

Some personal thought.... after doing a lot of research finding the perfect laptop that fits my needs I've seen that there is a lot of confusion of parts and notebook models. They really should clarify this stuff... How hard is it to make a list...

Chim your best bet is to work off a list made by a fairly well known rep. If you take a look at the resellers guide (sticky in these forums) and take your pick from one (or several) of the resellers you'll generally get a feel for what's there.

If you're still looking for a Clevo a lot of the resellers change the name (hence the confusion) of the model so no matter if you're buying a NP8660 (from XoticPC), M860TU (from Eurocom), Nexus (from Kobalt Computers), The "Edge" (from PC Microworks). ALL of them are ALL the same computer.

My point being, work out what you WANT first of all in a laptop, aka screen size, processor speed, graphics card etc and THEN tailor the computer around that. Or else use the post in the forums for the "Which Notebook Should I Buy" if you don't know what brand or if you're set on getting a clevo post what you want in these forums and ask people what models tailor to that.
