I want to get the best laptop $2500 can buy and I want it for gaming. I will use my own monitor, keyboard, and mouse, so I could care less for those that come with laptop. Size, weight, battery life are meaningless to me.

So far 3DMark 2013 default FireStrike benchmark scores I have seen for GTX 980M were about 9000 marks. Is that about the score that NP9772-S will achieve? Have there been any reviews and benchmarks posted? 9000 marks is excellent for laptop, but I am not sure games like GTA V and Witcher 3 will play well on such a laptop @ the highest settings, even without AA.. I only need 40fps+ and no stuttering. I only had stuttering with 3GB VRAM cards in the past on my PC, but once I switched to 4GB cards, all stuttering stopped.

Are there any major issues with it? What about that Optimus thing? Some say its really bad and others say its not. Will it get n the way of gaming? Does it increase input lag or decrease performance???

How is the driver support? I know nVidia blocked overclocking in their 900 M cards! I hope that will be de-blocked if enough people sign the petition. OC on GTX 980M can greatly improve performance!

If you want the best gaming experience you would be better off with the NP9377 with 2x 980M. The mobile processor wont matter so much in games and 980M SLI can drive higher resolution and or higher refresh rate external monitors better.

Optimus is on neither system so no concerns there,

Act as if it wont be removed just now.

Will $2500 cover SLI on that laptop? So do these laptops HAVE Optimus or DO NOT HAVE Optimus? "Act as if it wont be removed just now." - I don't understand... If they do not have Optimus, then why they be removed??? I also cannot find NP9377 customization without some crazy ads... Could you please link me to where I can customize and buy it?

OK, so I may be able to wiggle around and get me a NP9377, but only if I cut the price short on the SSD and plug my own SSD in. Is that possible? I have a desktop Samsung 830 256GB SSD. AFAIk SSD's on both desktops and laptops are identical. I just need to make sure the HDD can be taken out and SSD can be inserted without having to re-solder anything. I can dis-assembled a laptop if need be, but the actual thing needs to be upgrade-able. I mean its got to be, right? They can put whatever I select in there, so I should be able to do the same too!

"Act as if it wont be removed just now." I think Meaker meant act as Nvidia won't remove it just now...no OC.

No Optimus on the NP9377 or NP9772.

Link to LPC-Digital base configurator for NP9377 http://www.lpc-digital.com/sager-np9377.html

Other Sager Resellers likely have the same base config. on their sites. Not "NP9377-Special" that's got the extras.

$2500 covers 980M SLI only, with no other additions.

Yes, it's a Clevo. ;) It's user upgradeable. Put your SSD in.

PowerNotebooks is also great and uses better entry-level components, but there is no option NOT to have an HDD. I do not want either as I want my own SSD in it. Doing so would cut the price and make it just right. As it stands, PowerNotebooks config would cost me $2685 and Xotic would cost me $2530... Or maybe PowerNotebooks can cut me some slack and ship the laptop without any HDD's and SSD's, lowering my price down to whatever it would be... PLEASE?

Yes, dang it. They all have identical prices. Is there no chance they can cut the price down by removing the HDD or SSD? I need basic configuration + GTX 980 SLI + 16GB RAM + Blu-ray Reader, which bumps the price to beyond where I can afford it... damn it...
I wonder how GTX 970M SLI performs... going from GTX 980M to GTX 970M SLI is only $150 increase, which is odd because the card isn't that far behind GTX 980M. Are there any reviews of the same laptop with GTX 970M SLI?

Why is NP9772-S more expensive than NP3977-S when you use very similar specs? Better display, audio, keyboard, etc?

Also, is Clevo and Sager identical? I never heard of Clevo before... Is it like USA and Euro marketing thing or what?

Why am I NOT calling PowerNotebooks? Simply because I doubt they would allow something like that. I was wondering if anyone else ever asked for a custom-custom configuration and got a positive reply. No need to try if others know that it won't happen. Besides, Meaker looks like he works or has something to do with PowerNotebooks, so he/she might know for sure.

Would LPC Digital allow such a custom-custom build that drops HDD? I figured you might know...

Oh, I would also love to get a discount on the OS. I have my own OS!

There is no such thing as a Sager, EuroCom, Mythologic, OriginPC, Maingear, ProStar, Falcon Northwest, Velocity, etc laptops. Those are only names, resellers. None of them "build" or manufacture. They may customize with different parts like Mythologic.

There is only Clevo. It is not some Euro thing, US thing, Asian thing. Clevo is the manufacturer, the innovator, builder, research and developer, they are everything but sales. Clevo does not sell direct to consumers, they use resellers and allow resellers to rebrand their notebooks, relabel, customize etc.

Oh damn! I am going to Europe, so I need to have a 120W - 240W adapter. It looks like NP9772-S comes with one, but NP9377-S does not...

The NP9377-S AC adapter is 120-240V 50-60HZ and will work in US, EU, Asia.

Ordering with an OS or not is an option. So, use yours.

I would contact a Sager reseller to ask what you can do about less hardware (HDD)

You can also look at RJTech and go Barebone and add the SLI 980Ms and CPU. http://rjtech.com/shop/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30212

Comparing base models the NP9772 is less expensive than the NP9377.

We can remove the HDD by request, per forum rules we are not allowed to post anything about prices, but you can PM me and I can let you know how to do so and the amount Sager lets us take off for it.

The GPU and RAM can be upgraded assuming they produce compatible MXM video cards in the foreseeable future. The RAM can upgraded but not to DDR4, that's a whole different monster.

Future GPU compatibility isn't guaranteed, they may work and they may not. We will only know for sure once they are released and tested. The only ones we know for sure will work are the 0nes currently listed. For example you can get a 970M now and know for sure you can upgraded to a 980M later since its currently one of the options.

If you email Larry at LPC digital directly and ask for the best price, he will respond with a price lower than you will see with the online configuration. You could ask about removing unnecessary parts at the same time for an even lower price. Lastly, a lot of resellers offer a 3% discount if you pay with cash/wire transfer. I got a pretty sweet deal by doing all of this back when I got my p170em.
