    Hello everyone!

I hope I am not asking a question that's been asked before. I did search around but didn't find it.

I made the mistake of installing the CCC from clevo's website and this led to the bug with XTU and the fan profiles. I'm just about to reset everything and reinstall with the obsidian tool, and I was wondering if I do install the CCC with the XTU option switched off can I still use XTU to undervolt or will this result in a problem? Also, would you guys recommend XTU or throttlestop in general?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi All,

So just to be clear, what I was referring to was a bug that sometimes occurs if you install the Clevo Control Centre with the Extreme Tuning Utility option enabled. Some other users have noticed that this results in the fans going crazy. Indeed that happened to me.

I then uninstalled, flashed everything, and now I'm using throttlestop. The fans are certainly much better.

However, I was wondering if I could go back to using XTU rather? Would that result in the same conflict?

Older revisions of CCC came bundled with bugged Intel XTU code, which has since been updated with version 5.1.1.51+.
So using at a minimum that version or latest XTU should no longer cause any FAN related issues.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the help :) It's my first time playing around with these things.

Your wording suggests the XTU is still perhaps not the best way to go? (For someone with the stock bios). Would you perhaps recommend Throttlestop rather?

The reason I was slightly more interested in XTU was that I'm trying to figure out how to use the undervolt across OSs.

    Thanks!

You should be able to undervolt in stock BIOS just fine. In fact it should already force a 50mV- on it's own on your P6 platform.

There certainly don't seem to be any options in the bios itself. It seems software like throttlestop or XTU is required?

    Am I wrong about this?

I recommend using ThrottleStop rather than XTU whenever possible. I would not recommend using XTU if ThrottleStop works correctly.

Easier to use and wrong settings do not get saved to the BIOS. ThrottleStop settings do not require a reboot as some changes do with XTU. XTU Service can be removed and that just extra overhead bloat nobody needs choking things, especially if their system is already sort of wimpy to begin with. ThrottleStop has no telemetry filth like XTU.

Xtu is a nice monitoring platform for the CPU however.

Yes, it does have some nice monitoring features. However, I find my systems actually function better if the XTU Service is not installed in Windows. They overclock better and more stable without it. Even my new desktop runs better without it.
