I own an X7200 (i7 970, 12GB, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 2x GTX 485m) and for the past week it has been constantly crashing with nvidia errors. The end result after uninstalling all drivers is artifacts and green color during boot.

As soon as I install drivers computer crashes completely. I tried repasting, memtest (which found errors but I replaced all memory sticks with new ones) but problems persist.

I found a seller on ebay selling the cards but he is not sure if they are clevo compatible and I am not willing to spend money on a 50/50 thing.

I haven't been following any recent developments with clevo but is there a 2015 model for the x7200 and if so which one?

Either P570WM or wait for its refresh.

Hmm ... or the Panther 7N, of course :D .

Really nice laptop, but uses normal mobile processor. If it's another 'all out' you want; the 4940MX would be the SM-A's limit. If a desktop cpu is no longer a must have, then yes, great option. That specific version is the * bling-bling* variety, for a little less conspicuous model, there's the P370SM-A. Only other difference is that it lacks the second webcam (on the outer side of the display lid).

If you are looking at one with another desktop processor, there is the NP9772 (P770ZM) or NP9773 (P770ZM-G). Those would be similar because of that processor, if you wanted to check those out. But the NP9377-S is a really good model overall as well.

I am playing around with the following configuration. No hard disks as I will reuse the SSD and 1TB from the X7200. I'm looking to buy from EU as I can get a VAT exemption if I buy on behalf of my company.

Anything you would add regarding the configuration/model/company that sells it? I checked the reseller forum and other than the occasional support hiccup, I haven't noticed anything bad.

Granted I got lucky with all my previous laptops. No issues through 3 years of working on them. The X7200 developed the problem in its' fourth year of operation and it was abused rather than used for most of that time :)

Looks like a mean machine. You do pay a hefty premium by using their cpu upgrade; sourcing the 4910MQ yourself is a bit cheaper and you'll basically have an i5-4210M for free (as a spare, sell for €150 or make someone else happy).

XMG has been around for a while, so 3 years warranty might be useful. Has UK centre too, if you want to order form that (noticed UK English kb). Could try both (.eu and .co.uk) and order from whichever is cheaper after exchange rate. There's also at least one cheaper EU reseller, but they don't offer 3 year warranty.

The display isn't as good as the P570WM's, but it should be about equal to your X7200.

I mostly play 3rd person games like Batman series, Witcher 3, Mass Effect and Tomb Raider. The X7200 has played all wt high settings through it's 4 years of life.

You think that the XMG will P724 will continue this trend? Ideally I'd like 3-4 years of life out of the laptop, playing at 1920x1080 at high and ultra if possible.

Most likely, yes. No way to be absolutely certain, of course; can't know future hardware requirements. At the moment it's more than sufficient and if 30 fps is acceptable too then that would extend its life even further.

Agreed about the future being uncertain. From the site you gave, it seems that it can handle most of the games that I play with fps ranging from 60-200 so I should be good.

30fps is acceptable as long as it is stable and high settings. I'll check the money in the bank and proceed with the order on monday.

I'll revert if I have any fuirther questions.
