So nearly every reseller has the offer to either have it with, or without branding. Some have the Sager name on the back, others such as Malibal, have their own brand on the back.
Which do you all prefer? With or without?

With Branding :
Friend : "What's a Sager?"
Me : Oh it's a not-too-well-known gaming brand with superb spe....
Friend : "Whatever.."
Without Branding :
Friend : "What laptop is this?"
Me : Custom Build.
Friend : Oh my gosh! You built your own laptop? Cool!
Me : Yup. -
^ LOL
Yea I have mixed ideas about it. Branding is not bad, it looks nice and clean, but people don't know what Sager is. No branding looks too plain. I think I'd keep the branding when I buy mine in the future. -
I would go with no branding, personally, it looks tidy and unique.
I wish I had gone with no branding on mine, especially because the 'branding' turned out to be a rather, well, big, textured sticker.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
i removed my brand logo and the two hdmi and thx stickers

I wouldn't have gotten branding if it wasn't MALIBAL. I love the way it looks on the P151HM1, it gives it a nice air of luxury and power - not the cheap feeling you get from an overdone sager/other logo.
-
-
I like the "Origin" brand name so took it with the logo
-
I don't mind the branding at all and will probably get it branded again in the future.

Without for Gelaskin.

i want "clevo" logo brand

I do believe in some cases, branding can actually increase the resale value. Even though the laptop spec's are identical. Funny how these things work eh?

What about "I do not care" option?

lets see wat my colleagues says at work... hopefully it arrives tomorrow
. I choose no branding

For me, branding depends on the company and the quality of the product. My Dell I would prefer no branding because i'm not too thrilled or impressed with it. But my new Mythlogic on the other hand, I requested the branding and will gladly show it off and talk about it. -
branding doesn't bring any performance. It just brings cost.
For some aesthetics is important and brand can deliver that.
Reminds me a lot of the alienware M17 aka ocz whitebook aka flextronics (ex-arima) W840DI.
Exactly the same components except for branding and aesthetics. AW costed like $500 more at least.
For me it's pure stupidity. -
What cost are you talking about?
Branded or not, the cost is the same -
yeah guys we aren't talking on all brands, this is Sager/Clevo specific
hence the subforum it's in -

The branding could be used as a slick conversation starter... (stole the idea out of another thread)

what does malibal look like?

My last Clevo had branding, then it fell off. HAHA. Its a joke, seriously.
Well alright, malibal is pretty legit. The guys who just put stickers on are ridiculous
I always say, if you haven't heard of them its because they are a boutique brand.
The guy i sold my last clevo was actually like "yea, they did some models for alienware?".
I like to bring up how many other brands are all just made by Compal and how no one has heard of them. Or how asus is for weirdos. -

You should redo the poll like this (more complicated but more accurate):
1. Brand or not to brand
2. What 'brand' do you own
Then we can see which owners are more or less likely to brand -
I prefer no branding because it's less conspicuous. Someone may walk by and see it as a no name notebook and think it's not worth much. There will be less motive/incentive for them to want to steal it.
-
I think it largely depends on the brand and just the aesthetic of it. I really liked the looks of the MALIBAL branding so I asked for it. I'll see what it actually looks like in person whenever it gets here, but the pictures of it I liked. I think in general I would have said no branding because a lot of companies tend to overdue it. It's like when you buy a car from a specific dealer it seems like they all try and put their dealership name EVERYWHERE and I hate it. When I first started configuring notebooks at the different sites I kept selecting no branding, but then that isn't what I ended up actually ordering.

No branding for me.
Looks cleannnnnn.
Plus you can always add you're own unique design or whatnot later if you want -
saw someone skinwrap his macbook with carbon... wonder if anyone wants to do it on the sager?

I just want to add; Owning either the D901C, D900F, x8100, or x7200 will be sure to turn heads regardless of branding. Size is what matters

yeah it's still obviously a Mac with the hole for the Apple to show through though

damn clever of the op for the thread title. I give him kudos.

I like the branding, and I like without the branding... but push comes to shove, I'll take the branding. It's not that prominent, it doesn't detract from a laptop that looks extremely professional (arguably up there with the DELL precisions), and I have had people ask me "how much did you spend at national wholesale liquidators for it" only to learn that I can turn up my games to high settings and get great fps whenever I want (and no, I don't play BF3).

Ryan pretty much summed it up with the first reply to this thread. Unfortunately Sager seems like a cheap brand to those who are not in the know, which is pretty much everyone.

Here are pics of an np8150 that was covered in carbon fiber to match his table (it's in the middle of the thread)

i wanna do this too. think he uses the 3m di noc carbon fibre sticker -
i have an idea.......make clevo design a removeable cover+backlit base, and we can cut black paper to whatever shape logo we want and put in, then the backlit will be the shape that we make

how about this one?

I wish I can ask for debranding too (not available at my reseller + not aware about it)
The clean back == countless modding possibilities -
If it's from MALIBAL - Branded. It just adds that touch of luxury, that elite feeling. It's not an overly-showy logo, and it adds to the laptop in just the right way.
If it's from other resellers - No Branding. No offense, a new reseller could come out with a better logo, but on the whole, the others have either overly-showy logos or ones that detract from the whole luxury feeling.
