for all those people who are lucky enough to have a np5793 or any other vversion of it (eg the pcmicroworks horizon) can you please tell me how it looks? its a real bang for your buck laptop and is portable+good batt life but it pales in comparison to the m15x in terms of looks. can you tell me if it really looks good and maybe even post some pics. Thanks

look at the M570RU owners thread for what you want:

Well you can check out my mini-blog,review of my black-orange NP5790. I had a few pics of it...
-
Don't doubt about it, the np5793 is an AWESOME notebook
-
I just got mines a few days ago. I also was originally interested in the aesthetics of the notebook. I was a bit afraid that it would be "ugly". However, the black and orange trim model i got is very classy and "cool" i guess. It doesn't stand out but its not an eyesore.
-
The Sager's IMO aren't "bad" looking. They don't have the backlit keyboard and LED's or the Logitech game panel but they also don't come with an inflated price.
-
wxkid23, lacking some kind of features doesn't necessarily means it's ugly. ie, i would rather take this:
over this:
I owned an apple macbook pro over a year and i had not used the backlit more than 30 mintues total. -

IMO Alienware machines look pretty lame because they try to hard to make it look "cool" and "futuristic".
Function > Form
Backlit Keyboard= pointless (screen lights up keys in the dark. Who the heck types a term paper in the dark? Who look at the keyboard while gaming in the dark?)
Logitech Game Panel= pointless (you have to look out of the way to see info that you could see on your screen, oh, you just got your head shot off)
LED Lights= DISTRACTION -
To me, nothing looks better than the 5793. It's very stylish (and powerful at the same time!)

The Clevo M57xRu-x (sager 579x) is one of the sleekest and best looking 17 laptops out there.
If you want, I can upload some pics tomorrow, took some when cleaning my fans. -
Idd The 57xRU is a nice looking lappy
Just fits right in between fancy and classic lookswhen its closed, the silver version really looks as a business lappy (from pics), tho the carbon-effect around the keyboard+surroundings isn't whats normally found on a work machine, but that just indicates that it is not a normal lappy neither
The orange trim one tho, looks stylish with its polished black and a little fanciness with the orange line and carbon effect really matches

Good pics can be found on Eurocoms website

tons of pics here and i know i took some really nice ones as well as others..

are those buttons to the left of the power-button, or are they indicator lights for caps/scroll/num locks? Or indicator lights for something else?
Looks great - waiting for mine with great anticipation! -
They are buttons. Furthest to the left launches your default email client, the middle of the three launches your default web browser (i use this all the time), and the right one is programmable to launch any application of your choice
EDIT: the lock indicators are the three right-most of the seven LEDs to the right of the audio jacks. -

Your hotkey driver should be running in your system tray. Double click on it, and it'll bring up a window to set the user defined app.
Edit: More to the point of the thread:
I love my M570RU though it looks, in my humble opinion anyways, more like a performance machine than a pretty machine. The silver trim (M571RU clevo; not sure the rebranded numbers) is quite classy; the orange more sporty.
It's nice looking, but not something that will get attention based on how it looks.
However, it's an utterly badass notebook. In my experience, outside of people with enthusiast-type rigs, it blows the average Joe's desktop out of the water, let alone other lappies. It's comparable on a component basis to the m15x (though with a bigger screen); but far better designed - particularly in regards to heat.
In terms of battery life, it depends on what you're doing. Running the 8800M GTX without downclocking on battery power is kind of amusing in a sad sort of way but outside of 3d apps I got about an hour and a half "out of the box", and close to 2 hours now thanks to the Magic of Undervolting. It'd be similar with the m15x, though, I imagine. Plug in to game
It's quite portable - I take mine with me all over the place. It's reasonable in terms of weight - 8lbs and change, if I remember correctly, and only a little bit wider than the m15x due to the 17" screen.
In short, I'm extremely happy with mine. It was cheaper than a comparably geared m15x, featured a larger screen, and has no heat issues whatsoever.
Performance > glowy keyboards. -
I agree with all of the above. All very well said.

ON TOPIC: could you do a pic of just the back please? thanks -

I think so. Matte and black, awesome look.
Pictures can`t do it justice, it's raining outside and messes up the luminance ,but I`ll upload more later if you want of the whole thing -
so have you jailbroken your ipod touch or iphone? -
Don`t have one.
-
btw, is the keyboard good and firm when typing on it? -
it's an ipod touch, and i have not...i pretty much just use it for its intended functions >.>
anyway, the keyboard is pretty springy and comfortable...there really isn't any flex to mention, but you can get it to sag if you press hard around the arrow keys. -
the keyboard is amazing. Has the new rubbery solid laptop keyboard feel.
To all those sager np5793 owners; please help me
