    Hello,

I really want to buy a Quad d901c "notebook" , I just want someone that has one to tell me one thing that I can't find or want to believe reading reviews :)

I will use it to replace my desktop computer , doing 3D renders and working with big photoshop images , is the cooling system any good ? ( don't care about the noise ).
Can I trust it to work on it for hours ?

    Thanks,

The cooling system is great as far as I have read around here. You don't have any overheating problems with a D901C.
PS: dexgo, man, let's not exaggerate here. The best cooling system there is is made by Lenovo (ThinkPads). The D901C has a very good one, but still, let's be objective.

I don't care what people say. Yes, it can deal with heat, but holding it on your lap would feel very warm...
Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that anyone using hadn't had problems with the components being cooled down. It has a very efficient cooling solution that not many laptops have. The end.

    from chaz's review

"It is assumed that the Sager NP9260 runs hot and loud by many. However, this is simply not the truth. Even with two of the most powerful video cards available for notebooks, a desktop processor, and four large-diameter fans, the NP9260 runs surprisingly cool and quiet. The only audible sounds are the soft rushes of air flowing out of the back of the notebook (which is essentially all vents). There is no real fan motor noise. The air coming out of the back is definitely warm but not flaming hot as might be expected. Even at full tilt, while the fans spin faster the noise level is not significantly increased. Those four fans push a lot of air – while standing behind the notebook I could feel a warm breeze, even 5 feet away. The NP9260 will be a nice companion in the wintertime."

I was very pleasantly surprised how cool my system was and is under load. Clevo has a winner as many have said.

    thanks,

one thing is a review using it for two or three hours another is day to day experience that's way I ask :)

    thanks again,

Most of the reviews here are pretty in-depth and based on pretty decent use. Chaz's reviews are generally very comprehensive and appear to be quite trust-worthy.

Also, as you'll find if you browse the forum, people who don't like something about a Clevo are quite willing to let everyone else know about it - particularly if they originally bought it because of what others' had said on this site. Complaints regarding too much heat from the D901C/NP9262 seem to be reasonably rare (as far as I recall from my almost-daily browsing) and those that are posted tend to be related to specific defects on the system in question.

ok , so there should be no problems if I let the computer rendering an image for lets say 4 hours (using all the resources)?
I can almost trust this like a workstation ?

    thanks,

Trust it like a workstation?? With all due respect, the thing is a workstation! :D

Having perused probably about 80% of the D901C-related posts over the last couple of months, the "consensus" among those who post here seems to be that the thing will not overheat unless (a) you're really unlucky and get one of the very few that was defectively manufactured, or (b) you block up the vents or otherwise restrict the air-flow through the case and out the vents.

If you still want extra hand-holding from someone who's personally run one doing exactly what you intend to do for as long as you've described, then you need to send some private messages to the owners on the forum (most of them brag ;) about having a D901C in their signature blocks) and ask them point-blank for their temperature history.

You're simply not going to get that many answers just hanging out a post like this - in fact, the fact that you haven't gotten a lot of posts telling you all about various heating problems should tell you something - it's largely a non-issue; if it weren't a non-issue, you would have grabbed everybody's attention and there'd be a post-war going on (well, ok, not a war, just a post-snowball-fight :D ).

(Keep in mind, the posts related to specific issues will typically be over-representative of those with problems or complaints - it's the nature of the beast, go look at the Dell/Alienware sites, to read those fora you'd think Dell was the Yugo of the IT world. Dell's not - they're generally better than average, but that doesn't stop complaints).
