Amazing game so far. But what do you score on its benchmark? This is on my NP9170 with 3610qm and 7970m, stock clocks. EDIT: Other settings not in the pic are 1080p and with triple buffering.

same settings with tressfx turned off
    [IMG]

I was playing the game last night with settings similar to the above except with DOF at normal, tessellation turned off, and tressfx on, for an average of 35-40. Next time I play it though, I'll just play it on ultra (no tressfx) because the ponytail moves all wonky even though the front of the hair looks good.

    Moar pics I took

Also, with the new layout. I'm used to seeing everything on the right, hard to adjust to everything on the left now. -_-

I've heard post processing is heavy, so maybe take that off. I'll play with it later. I know FXAA hardly does anything, maybe 2FPS at most difference between it being off and on.

    Thanks guys.

So can we come to the conclusion that the game runs smoothly, maxed out but with tressfx turned off? Not to fussed on a little bit of fancy hair.

comparing Srikar's (NP9170) and johnnyman27's (P151HM) results, enduro has quite big hit on performance. even with last gen slower i7 2720qm and all ultra settings, the game runs much better

The real question is...is it better than Crysis 3? or perhaps... I should rephrase... is it longer than the substandard 8 missions of crysis 3...

articles i have read point to a densely told story, so in that regard it should definitely be better than crysis 3. on the other hand, they also describe the game as a "rendered movie" basically, cuz of the many cutscenes and the pretty easy difficulty.

Got the game dirt cheap from GMG.

It preforms very well. The best advice I can give is turn off "tressfx". It's a major framerate killer. Also lower SSAO. The game never dips under 40fps for me.
What a beautiful looking game. It plays like a dream too. It's not the TR we all know, a few things feel tacked on. But this is a true blockbuster.

Haha. Looks like Crystal Dynamics pulled a fast one - read this excerpt from kitguru.net:

“Unfortunately, Nvidia didn’t receive final game code until this past weekend which substantially decreased stability, image quality and performance over a build we were previously provided,” spokesperson Andrew Burnes explained on the company’s official site (via Eurogamer).

“We are working closely with Crystal Dynamics to address and resolve all game issues as quickly as possible. Please be advised that these issues cannot be completely resolved by an Nvidia driver. The developer will need to make code changes on their end to fix the issues on GeForce GPUs as well.

And that is definitely the case. With my HD7970m mildly OC'ed (870/1440) - I get the following results:

At 1080p ultimate (TressFX ON, FXAA) I get 38.2 FPS average
At 1080p ultra (TressFX OFF, FXAA) I get 53.4 FPS average

Will post benchmark and settings pics hopefully when I get home.

@JC - with your dual OC'ed 680M's you only get 9 FPS more than me :p

EDiT: Heck, my 7970m even bests a desktop GTX 670 result :D

But remember, Tomb Raider is an AMD Gaming Evolved title. The game doesn't use Physx or the full potencial of nVidia GPUs =p

Regardless of that - your 680M SLI setup should be at least 70% faster than a single 7970m.

With Tomb Raider (before Nvidia release driver optimizations etc), your 680M's (both of them!) are only about 30% faster than a single 7970m. Compared to what you pay for two 680M's I think that's great performance.

You can count the number of times, but this is definitely one of them - it pays to have an AMD card on launch day :)

EDiT: I know performance will increase once Nvidia release new drivers, but let me have my fun while it lasts :D

I'm thinking the people behind Tomb Raider are giving Nvidia trouble in getting resolutions to these issues. Nvidia's FB page Posted a link last night recommending users having trouble with the game to go report the issues on Eidos forums.

"For those of you experiencing performance related issues with Tomb Raider, please make sure to notify the developer and publisher of your findings. Performance related issues can be reported via their forums Technical discussions & bug reports - Eidos Forums , Facebook: Square Enix and Twitter @squareEnixUSA. We are working with the publisher to address the issues as quickly as possible."

I've been playing the game (GREAT game btw!) and i'm having the same experience. @25-50 fps with tessFX and a steadier 40-60 without. i mean the hair is nice but is a bit over exaggerated, any movement made, be even a step forward, and her hair makes it feels like she's being shoved lol. I also think it needs to be optimized a bit better but it's a pretty game nonetheless.

lol well yea that game is a different story, but the fact that that one feature demolishes the fps by 20-30 is a bit much, unless it's just how it's supposed to be. But i remember in the early stages of physx and Ambient occl. settings in some games were absolute killers but eventually got worked out.

In some points of the game I get this super annoying bug:

I'm running the game with GTX 680M SLi, and it seems that it only occurs with nVidia GPUs. Anyone else here with this bug?

I followed the comments and I turned off Tessallation, it seems now is OK.

It seems the problem only occurs with 314.14 Driver. People are saying to downgrade to 310.xx to fix that. Are you running 310.xx or lower?

What driver are you using,as on mine CFX simply won't work. Not really a big deal as it is running fine on single GPU,but i want to use my system for sure.

I'm wondering myself, why AMD cards gets higher results in this game when GTX 680M SLi is notably better and more expensive...

The game is pretty heavily optimized for AMD, just like some games are optimized for Nvidia. It'll even out over time as driver tweaks are released and SLI profiles developed. Likely not taking full advantage of SLI just yet.

+ [when enabled] tressFX is a DirectCompute technique and gtx680m will be thoroughly raped by 7970M in DirectCompute performance. ;)

Yes, you can ignore the minimum in the benchmark. Everyone gets a ridiculously low number on it.

I kinda wish they added more benchmarks the farther into the game you got. I really want to see a benchmark of shanty town which is where I took a real FPS hit, lol. Also, finished 100% a few days ago. :D And am now addicted to Mount&Blade: Warband so much that I'm not going through my backlog of games. Well, technically M&B was part of my backlog...

    Also...
That link you provided was from July of last year. AMD has released greatly-improved drivers since then. At the time of that comparison, Enduro was taking a heavy hit in performance. The cards are more or less equal except in a few specific situations (sup, AC3).
