I think I should do the Vista tweaks first, but then what should I move on to? I want to make sure I have all the nessecary software for keeping my laptop running fast and clean. What did you do first?

I don't know if the laptop comes with bloatware or not... probably not! Either way, the first thing I'd do is reformat and re-install the OS and partition the hard drive as I want it before that. :)

    1) make sure you got all of the hardware that you configured
    2) check for any defects (broken fans, dead pixel on LCD, etc..)... uncommon, but can happen
    3) do some benchmarks to make sure all performance is up to par
    4) enjoy.

use the Fan Toggle (Fn+1) to switch all fans to Max Speed, and you can tell if a fan is not working.

Gotta love the Clevo Fan Toggle feature. :)

It not hard . Just run a game and see if it overheats :D
Also, you can listen next to the fans` position if they`re working.
It`s 4 of them so you should be able to figure it out.

    Oh and
    5) wipe drool of keyboard.

I'd make sure you have a way of installing virus software before venturing onto the web with it.

step #3 - cover entire machine with see through painters tarp
step #4 - dim the lights
step #5 - put on barry white
    step #6 - make yourself a drink
step #7 - practice your pickups lines in the mirror
step #8 - sit on one hand until it goes numb

How should I partition my HDD? My primary is a 200GB 7200rpm and my secondary is a 120GB 5400rpm.

you do not need to partition if you dont want to... there is little to no benefit for partition (nowadays)... other than organizing purposes.

I didn't think so. I planned on just using the 120 for backup.

Yeah, like testing car brakes - let it roll down a hill and, if it hits whatever's at the bottom, you need new brakes.:twitcy:

partitioning can be a help if your OS goes kaput...that way all your other stuff is okay even if you have to reinstall Vista...of course this doesn't help in a hard drive failure, but i've had a number of OS crashes because the fates hate me!

    pat!
