    Please excuse my grammar.

I don't know if I was unlucky or what but I already had problems the day I received my notebook.

The first problem I had with my notebook was I couldn't log into my user account because it was lock. It was lock the 2nd time I turn it on and I never did set a password lock for this notebook. Now my notebook will say lock on the username but it not lock.

My second problem was MAJOR as it wipe out my whole user account and everything in it. Extremely frustrating when all your papers in school were gone.

My third problems was that the notebook can't remember my save and load files after a while. So I would be busy with school and then come back to games like Dragon Age, and all my load files would be gone. Same things would happen to other PC enhancement like rainmeter where you customize your desktop would all disappear after a while for no apparent reason. It make me fear of making any changes to my notebook because it would be erase and as such it been very frustrating.

My fourth problem is the CD that came with the blu-ray player does not play blu-ray at all.

Gaming on this notebook is amazing, and graphic such as Crysis 2 look spectacular but with memory lost and other problems I been having with these games (could be a steam problem but not sure), it has been a very frustrating experience.

I been really busy with work and school and my 1 year warranty is not up so I will try to contact Malibal again and hopefully they take my problem seriously this time around and let me sent it back to be fix because I am not tech savvy and I'm not lying about any of these problems as they think I am for some reason. I didn't want to re-install windows again versus sending it back to Malibal to be fix was because I had so much applications and important documents on it currently that I could not afford to lose. I just finished school so now I have time to focus on my notebook.

It is so frustrating that I have not visit this forum in so long because every time I am on here I feel a bit sad that my notebook is not on par with everyone else and if it a memory or hard drive issue, I still got a lemon.

It sounds like you just to reinstall windows... Except for the blu-ray thing, you might need different software on your PC. Blu-ray on pc has always given me problems too.

These issues do not sound like issues that have to do with the laptop itself. Especially the account lock. That is more or a windows setting.

Check your save file location for your games to see if they really are disappearing.

If your issues are as bad as you says with files disappearing(never heard of this one...), you should reformat.

I couldn't afford to reformat when I bought the laptop months ago was I was still in school and had a lot of important document that I couldn't afford to lose so I wanted to sent it into Malibal to get it fix but now that I'm done with school I will reformat and hope every single problems is gone and if not hopefully Malibal let me send it to them.

The last few times I email them they never responded back which makes me worry.

Just reformat and install windows and all will be fine.

That sounds like a software issue, not a hardware one. That's why I always install everything myself. You might want to think about backup as there really is no need to be losing data like that.

No I sent them several emails months ago. How much better are these new notebook compare to mine? Is the 580M graphic card outdated now? I haven't been following up with the latest and greatest hardware.

All of those problems listed sound like a software issue to you? I hope all it take is a simple reformat.

Hope a reinstall works. Please, please backup, you shouldn't need to worry about losing important work.
Your 580 is still pretty good. Technology moves on all the time.

It does sound like software problem and or configuration problems (re: downloads, save games, etc)

As for losing documents, use dropbox (if you need referral link, PM me for 256mb more space). I personally put all my important files on dropbox (2GB of data is more than enough) as I have a laptop, desktop and a smartphone and I've been switching laptops lately so it's nice that i have all the files synced between the 3. I also used evernote during the school year for notes and to do lists, that too syncs across all my devices.

Important files should be in 4 locations. Primary machine, backup machine, drop box and a usb stick.

All your problems will be fixed by a fresh install of windows. Store your important files online/on an external drive and format. No point in sending it back to malibal to fix software issues. Make sure you install all drivers afterwards. You can find them on the clevo website.

How long ago did this start happening? Do you have system restore on? Did it start after an update or install of something? If so, try to restore to just before the update or install. Also, have you run malwarebytes on it recently? Have you had any strange notifications that you have some mysterious virus on your computer?

Have you checked to see if you are using either guest or some other account? Did you or someone else make another user account? Check and see if your account is still there. Perhaps someone used it and made another account. If so, your account will have everything there, you just won't see it if the newer account doesn't have rights. Actually, after rereading your post, this seems very much like the first possibility you should check. And again, run malwarebytes, perhaps you went to a bad website and have been hijacked. In fact, disconnect from the Internet and run Malwarebytes in safe mode.

As for your BluRay issue, it could be a driver problem. Have you checked to see if they are up to date?
As for those talking about backups... Listen to them. On my Sager 8150 I replaced the ODD with a HDD, and put a SSD in the HDD bay (I use a slim external ODD). So my first backup is on the HDD (I keep my important work and data on the SSD). Then I have 2 externals I back up to ( one at home, one at work) and I also use Dropbox. And like I think it was Meaker said, I have a USB stick.

Back up, then backup again. When finished, have yet another backup. Never too many. Redundancy is king if you have important data. Redundancy is king if you have important data. Redun..... Well, you get the picture. No one has ever yelled in frustration because they had too many copies of their work.

It happen the moment I got my notebook in Sept 2011. No system restore and it didn't happen after any update. I don't have any virus on this notebook. Some things happen after windows 7 edition passwords, I'm still confuse why it happen in the first place.

I use dropbox too, well I just found out about it.

So I back up all of my important document but where can I find save files for steam and non-steam games alike as well as music in my itune library?

Malibal also believe it a software issue. Can't believe that a software issue cause so much frustration and enjoyment for me.

    Thanks

A lot of games now days will have a folder in My Documents. Also, ninite.com should be useful after a fresh install, you can make a small exe there that will download and install a bunch of programs for you.

Steam has its own backup function by the way. It would save downloading it all again.
You can also use windows transfer to move documents and settings if you want. May be easier.

I wouldn't use a windows transfer if I was reformatting because my windows installation was Fed, but that's just me. I mean, it could be a virus or something, which you wouldn't wanna bring with you.

I see what you mean about the virus issue, but if you need the data anyway, it is useful. You can scan before you copy it to the new install.

I didn't know they have such a feature. If I had known about this I would have reformat my computers a long time ago.

My question to you is I can backup my downloads, but does that also backup all of my save files?

Please tell me so, would save so much trouble. I cannot lose my Skyrim save files.

I'm not sure exactly which game saves are backed up, but they are either kept in mydocuments or programfiles/steam/steamapps, so it can be done manually. It's pretty obvious where the saves are for each game if you look.

i just copied the whole steam folder from programs. reinstalled vista and downloaded steam from the net. of course it will have no games loaded. i then copied from the old folder to the new one and pasted and it overwrote what was in there. rebooted steam and all my games were back and saved where i last played.

Re-install windows without a hitch. The only weird thing is that my sleep button is gray out, any idea why?

For those who have the bigfoot wireless network killer, do you guys get a cd for it because I can't find mine or I never got a disc so I can't use the internet yet. Currently using it on a small old netbook.

For the bigfoot Killer drivers, there should have been a separate CD that came with your laptop with the drivers....it does depend on who you purchased your laptop through.

If you can't find the drivers, try this link Killer Gaming :: Home

Not sure why your sleep button is grayed out.

There are certain games, such as Amnesia, that place their saves in other locations such as My Documents.

My internet is slow so downloading the internet driver is forever.

So far beside the internet everything is working smoothly. Feel Like i just got a new notebook.

Will keep updating it once I get everything fully install.
