Bored and unable to sleep so I figured I would start a thread for anyone interested in sharing their ideas/tricks on how to get the most out of your batteries charge/lifespan.
I know most will say that gaming rigs aren't ever made to be ran unplugged, but I'm sure there are those of you out there like me that are going to be using their rig for everything they can think of. In my case I will be using it for school as well as gaming, so I'm looking to have the capability to run without plugging in for several hours at a time. Ideally I'm hoping to have the option to run 3-4+ hours without plugging in.
Obviously the easiest way would be to just have a 2nd battery on hand, which is what I plan on doing. But if any of you have anything else to suggest I would really appreciate and welcome anything you had to say.
Another concept I thought about for maximizing the lifespan of your battery, and correct me if I'm wrong, since all batteries have a set # of charges, wouldn't it make sense to always unplug your battery from your rig if you know you're going to be staying plugged in during the duration of your computer use, then plug the battery back in whenever you know your going to need to?
P.S. sorry if I'm an idiot, it comes naturally to me![]()

On my NP8130, I used ThrottleStop 4.0 to manually set (which forces it to go no more than or less than) the multiplier to 15x (can go lower, but too low will cause unfinished work to last longer, making it ineffective). Why? Lower multiplier correlates to lower voltage, and lower voltage means less energy draw. Therefore, longer battery life.
I also charge to roughly 40% then remove the battery when I'm not using it. -
teeny that won't do much.
your cpu is goign to go to like 800mhz when idle and if you lower the max clock speeds then that means your processor is going to do the same task longer using more power. -

The CPU/GPU already downclock a lot when you're on battery. Other than that, turning down brightness, turning wifi off, and using oinly a single SSD configuration are the best you can do. Even so, you probably won't get a significant battery increase out of it. The most I've seen is 3 hours with pretty heavy adjustments.

How long does a clevo battery usually last for using an i7 and a 560m?

Wonder why no one has made extended battery packs for these models.. They'd probably sell pretty well. Make it prop up the back of the laptop to help with cooling..

It would be great to see an extended battery though, as even an extra hour or two would make a pretty big difference. -
I forget which company it was, it might be lenovo, that had an extended battery for their models and it was a huge bottom plate the size of the laptop that gave it like 8+ hours of battery life. Clevo needs that

Did this battery pack have slots for proper airflow for the laptop though?
Do you happen to have a link handy? I could Google it, but I do like shooting for convenience. -
I had one for my old IBM x31! It was just a bottom piece that attached to the expansion dock port, it had no slots for airflow, but it didn't cover any of the openings on the bottom either

Not to mention the extra weight from a slice battery on a laptop this size..
I forgot that the battery is located on the front corner.. And because of the design differences there wouldn't be able to be one interchangeable slice for both of the p1xx series. Hmmm
Anyone smart enough to figure it out? I'd back a kick starter for it in a heartbeat! -
Anyone know of a way to charge a battery outside of the laptop?
I plan to get two batteries but would like to be able to charge both at the same time when I go to bed.
Thanks. -

I haven't seen anything that externally charge a battery yet. The only method you can do now is to plug in and charge one battery, then swap it out when it's charged (if you're plugged in, you won't need to shut it down).

Never mind

It would be nice if Clevo made an extended battery option.
Also would be nice for after market batteries. 130$ for a battery, yikes.
