I have a Clevo p150hm1. It is starting to shut down on its own without any notice. I have cleaned out the heatsinks, I have replaced the thermal compound with IC Diamond 7 and none of these have fixed the issue. Any suggestions?

Is there a method of "forcing" the cooling fans on to ensure they are working? I have powered it on and had the base off and the fans were not turning but that is common with laptops - only turn on when the temp gets to a certain point.

temps after shutting down and immediately rebooting it (I wanted temps badly)

    CPU - 40
    MB - 40
    HD - 43

all of those are in Celsius.

Those temps look fine, are you getting bluescreens or is it just shutting down. If its not temps and no bluescreens it could be some electrical issue.

Does it stay on long enough to run stress test programs like furmark and prime95?

if i understand your above post correctly are those temps just as it reboots within a few minutes of turning on. then they are no good to us as it needs to be running for a good 10 minutes as i think they are just base temps.

if you have the HM model then i think Fn + 1 puts fans on full but someone will have to clarify this.
who was your reseller and also is it still under warranty.

you somehow need to check your hard drive and ram as these can also cause crashes if faulty.

Fn+1 would force the fans to run at max. immediately :) go ahead and try it

Laptop has been on for the last 14 hours. It is no longer shutting down on it's own. I am thinking my thermal compound just needed to cure itself. I will keep it going and see if it changes. I am doing a burn in test, while watching a movie and speccy shows the temps a lot lower than the reading from last night. :)

Oh, Fn-F1 just disables the touchpad.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Do Fn+1 not Fn+F1 that confuses a lot people.

I REALLY like this IC Diamond thermal compound. Under load, temps are 41 for CPU, 40 for GPU. :)

Actually it was PassMark that it was running and it was okay...then. :(

It started shutting down again and not recognizing the hard drive now. I just RMA'd the hard drive for a second time (Seagate 9750420AS) and hope that takes care of it now. CPU and GPU temperatures have been as high as 61 C but that isn't that bad from what I understand.
