Man, I really go through these things, don't I?

Yep, back once more with more charger questions. The computer's been upgraded this time though, so there's that. The last one finally died after 7 and a half years of active service. It will be missed.

The replacement (an NP9758) has been working well, but I recently left the charger at my friend's college. About 4 hours away from me. He's gonna ship it back to me when he finds it, but I plan on digging up a spare in case something like this happens again, so that my laptop doesn't become unusable in the interim. As usual, I started doing research to find a few models and look through my options... but I can't find a single reseller with the unit in stock. I'm genuinely baffled - is it an obscure connector type or something?

You mean that 330w brick? Contact your seller, they should have spares you can buy.

Yes, fairly so. MSI uses them too, though. It's just that the market for DTRs is limited, so not a lot of demand for 2x2-plug adapters.

Rjtech has a 230W for $125, but that's outrageously priced. If you still have an old 2x2-plug/cable (or can find it somewhere), then you could buy a used 230W for $30 or even a 350W from a HP VooDoo for only $45. The weight is about the same as the Clevo's 330W, has a little more power and is only 1/4th the cost.

No need to open the adapter; the 2x2 is just a regular 1->2 split for both voltage and ground, so cut off the tip of the cheap 2-pin replacement and splice/solder on the 4-pin plug.

You should be able to purchase the chargers directly through Sagers site as well.

I had the 230w brick, I think. It was working great, though, so I see no reason to up the wattage - that tends to cost more, and I'm working off limited reserves ATM.

They do seem to have a few... for $150+. That seems like a lot of money to shell out for a charger, considering that the functioning replacement charger that I ended up with for my first laptop came from a reputable manufacturer and cost less than 50 dollars. It still works too, I just wish it matched the new laptop.
Thanks for the recommendations, but I sadly lack the equipment and knowledge necessary to swap out the plugs. I'll keep this in mind for when I find someone who does; this is gonna be a long term answer, though. Hopefully, my short-term works out and my buddy finds my original charger.
