Here's the problem and what I did.
At first I was able to add things to the Robson turbo memory control center fine... then it stopped working, it wouldn't respond to windows when I tried to open it from the system tray or the desktop icon. I restarted the computer a couple times to see if that would help. No luck.
So I went to the Intel website and installed the most up to date drivers. The installation went fine, but now I have no control center to actually use the turbo memory.
I have the "Intel Turbo Memory Console" but you can't do anything from there. It does however say "Windows Ready Boost* Disabled" Which shouldn't be.
So the question is.. how do I get the Ready Boost enabled and how do I get the robson control center back.
I did try reinstalling from the disk as well, it did the exact same thing.

Instead of usb flash drive, find your Intel Turbo Memory Console. I think look for it in your "My computer", then right click and select "properties", then follow this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial136.html
-
Unfortunatly I followed the steps on the link you sent me, however I can't find Readyboost anywhere in Vista to try and use it to find the turbo memory.

I think you should contact your reseller and get support from them from this point.

I've tried contacting Xotic PC already.. I tried their online chat.. after about an hour waiting I gave up and E-mailed them about 3 hours ago.. no luck yet though.

Legacy, I recommend calling our 24/7 Support. With the vast amount of people checking order status our Live Chat quickly gets tied up. However our 24/7 Telephone Support is available and ready to help around the clock.

Make sure you are using driver ver. 1.7.0.1029
This Intel Turbo Memory Driver Package will automatically detect the presence of a module and install the User Pinning GUI.
Start Menu->All Programs->Intel(R) Turbo Memory->ITMDashboard

That's the same problem as me. I have the console installed fine.. but I don't have the Dashboard for pinning files.
The good news however is that the windows ready boost is not active on my system.. but I still don't have the dashboard back to pin programs to.
I did speak to Xotic tech support. they gave me a driver link to download (as far as I can tell it's the same as I had already) but now the readyboost is active. The guy at Xotic said the file would have the dashboard in it.. but when it started installing it said it was just installing the Matrix Storage Manager and Turbo Memory Console. It said nothing about the the dashboard.
Maybe the dashboard is a separate install file that nobody seems to have? -
I recommend calling your customer support as well. Eurocom encountered errors with the turbo memory BEFORE shipping.
-
-
yeah it would seem to be software related. Perhaps intel just hasn't figured out all the bugs yet. Because the turbo memory seems to be working.
-
Here is what i got from Sager
if you have the 4GB module pinning dashboard is installed and enabled by default
if you have the 2GB module readyboost is by default, to install the pinning dashboard
make sure turbo memory driver and intel matrix driver is uninstalled from add / remove programs
reboot
use the search / run bar and go to the location of intel turbo memory setup file 1.7.0.1029 and install with the "-UP" command (x:\path to file\invm_enu.exe -UP) this will correctly install the pinning dashboard.
if you run into where the dash board would not corretly load, program already pinned will still work but you can't add / remove apps.
go to c:\program files (x86) for 64bit version of vista c:\progra files\intel\intel matrix\pinningui\ and delete all the .xml files
reboot
load dashboard, it'll be fresh again and you can now repin everything.
they have filed this issue with intel, it is now in intel's hands to prevent this from happening again. -
I'll try that out and see if it works and I'll report my results.
There is a 4 gig turbo memory module? I have the 2gig.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by -
to make things easy
copy the file to c:\turbo\
so now you should have the file invm_enu.exe in the turbo folder
now make sure that the already installed matrix and turbo memory driver is uninstalled and reboot
after it return to windows from the reboot press the vista button (start) in the space that says start search
type in the following
c:\turbo\invm_eng.exe -UP
and press enter
this will force pinning dashboard is installed for the 2GB module -
+Rep for you! and somebody should copy the info you added in and sticky it because I'm sure there are other people effected that don't even know they should have the dashboard. -
Do programs open noticeably faster when pinned?
-
-
Good idea. Timing your restarts would probably help figure out if that worked.

4gb? since when was that added to the customization list? I'd like to know the performance difference between the two.
-
Another note on the problem. The dashboard in the system tray says only 12% of the turbo memory is being used, regardless of how much is full.
I still have to delete those files mentioned above whenever I want to make changes to it, which sucks, but at least it works, even if I can't easily change the pinned programs. I hope Intel fixes this soon.
As a side note... I just pinned Photoshop to the Turbo Memory... Anybody who has used photoshop before knows it normally takes a little bit to load... Now: About 1-2 seconds. -
Haha... that's awesome! Hopefully it will help to convince some non-believers that it truly is helpful and not just useless if you have 4 GB of RAM.
-
Glad I'm getting the turbo memory. -
anyone know if the new modules work on the older platform and not just centrino 2??

Anyone know where can I buy the Turbo Memory on myself? Mine NP8660 already shipped without the Turbo memory...
-
There's some at lagoom.com search for Intel Turbo Memory
-
your reseller may sell it to you seperately?
-
So there's actually a lot of vendors if you use froogle and search for Intel Turbo Memory

Hey guys,
I get an error about a generic exception being thrown while looking for applications and no applications show up on the pinning dashboard.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
