1) My notebook doesn't have the hibernate option anymore. I have enable hibernation checked in the power settings, but I only get standby, turn off and restart. Ideas on how to get it back?
2) My mic isn't workin again. When I first got the notebook it didn't work. After fiddling around for a while i got it to work but never figured out how i got it to work. Now, it's not working again. Ideas?
Many thanks.

1) hold shift when you are in the Shutdown menu (with the 3 buttons to Standyby, Shutdown, Restart)
2) Inside of Volume Control, the Mic should NOT be muted for the mic to work. -
Ok that takes care of the hibernation problem, but not the mic problem. My mic isn't muted. Here look at this screenshot. Looks like the controls are set to low (off?) but I can't edit them

Check your Realtek Sound Manager (in the Control Panel):
- go to Speaker Configuration
- make sure its on default 2CH -
can't find speaker configuration.. I see speaker settings. it has me decide what kind of speakers i have so i said desktop stereo speakers. there's no 2ch option
-
i mean the look in the Realtek Sound Manager software.
it should have an icon in the Start menu and in the Control Panel -
yup 2 channel. Pic for confirmation

hmmm.... thats it strange, I just tested mine with everything that I have told you. It works for me.
In any case, the mic on this notebook is not the best, in fact the noise in the sound is from my fans at max speed when I did try to use it, I actually have an external mic on my USB Logitech headset [from my PS2 that i used for SOCOM], which I use more of [especially while gaming].
I am not sure what the issue is, but you might be very disappoint in the sound quality even if you do get it to work.
In any case, I would try to see if an external mic would work, if that does not work, then I am out of ideas. -
I got the mic to work before, but i don't know how.. I just ran the tests a few times then suddenly it worked. It worked fine, not great but fine. It's no big deal, but a tad disappointing that something on my delicious notebook doesn't work.
Thanks for trying to help me though.
