    Hi,

I'm from the UK, and have been looking to buy a NP8760 from the US. I have spoken to Xoticpc & PCTorque, and I am waiting on a reply from Powernotebooks. I am on a very tight budget, and asked if I could get bog-standard USPS Priority International shipping, but these two will only send the machine fully insured, the cheapest quote being $199.

Does anyone know if there is a US reseller who will ship a Sager/Clevo to the UK via cheap, standard shipping methods?

Another idea I had was to go for the 8690, which is $110 cheaper. Can someone please tell me if they get a lot hotter because they have the same components in a smaller chassis?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

If something goes wrong during shipping you're going to be royally ed and then you're going to be losing out on a lot of money.

Hi, that's the VAT, which is the same tax you have to pay even if you purchase a laptop from within the UK. There are no import duties on laptops shipping from the US to UK.

If you're going to spend that much on a laptop don't go cheap on shipping, $50 in your pocket won't save your life :) Yu're shipping to another continent, so better get some reliable service, and not something that will be somewhere, untracked, on a ship, might take 2 months, and who knows if it'll get there, it's not somethign new for packages to get lost :)

That is the fee one has to pay in addition to the price you paid + you have to pay for shipping when something is broken and send to the warranty. For the EU stores the price that is shown is the final one.

Yeah get good shipping with tracking and insurance as well. For a laptop this type is highly recommended.

Adding all the costs of buying from outside EU it might not be so cheap. Be sure to add all the costs when comparing.

Hi, yes - I understand your point. I was just clarifying that the 17.5% isn't an additional fee that has to be paid if one purchases outside of the UK, because some think that there are import duties in addition to the VAT.

When pricing a laptop outside the UK, you need to take the notebook price + shipping + VAT.

I've bought my laptop from RJtech. It was 500 Eur cheaper at the end includes all these extra payments as transfer, VAT, customs than ordering same nb from Germany (UK's price was the same).

I've tried to calculate how much I would pay if I got the W880CU from RJTech. It turned out a bit more expensive (5 euro) than if I bought it from mysn. RJTech price with all taxes included: ~2290 euro. MySN price: 2285. Both prices include shipping and 2 years warranty.

Update: Malibal price is ~ 2245 euro. However you would have to add another 100 USD to that due to UPS only shipping.
Kobalt price for the same config is 2281 euro (but in UK VAT is 17.5%), so if I were in Germany I would have to add 1.5% on top of that ... which means final price is 2315 euro.

Note that there are exchange rate fluctuations so prices may vary.

I'm in New Zealand and shipping was US$355 so after I put GST (VAT) on to the shipping it cost me almost NZ$600 I can buy a small laptop here for the same as the shipping!

The tricky part of the overseas ordering is the warranty and all the possible associated expenses. So think carefully, guys.
