Suddenly my USB 3.0 ports stopped recognizing my hard drives... they still work in USB 2.0 but obviously they're not as fast now. When I plug one drive into either USB 3.0 it lights up but doesn't spin up, so I don't think the ports are completely busted. I think I installed the latest firmware and drivers but nothing was fixed, any ideas? My laptop is a P151HM1

Something like this kept happening to my Asus N53 at a point. The day before it would be functioning, and upon plugging in a USB 3.0 HDD the next day, it would simply light up blue without doing anything or being recognized automatically. I would go into device manager and disable the USB 3.0 root hub underneath USB controllers then re enable it for it to start working again.
