hey guys, so im gaming on my 8170 and ive got my wireless mouse connected to the usb3.0 port. halfway through gaming, it just stops working until i reboot regardless if i plugged in another device. ive also tried plugging my external hard drive on that port to see if its an isolated problem but it results just the same.

this happens randomly, it is as if the port sleeps or something.
this appears to happen only on the 3.0 ports.

    any ideas?

radagust I'm making research which driver is responsible on my Clevo P170HM for unexpected freezes and I'm suspecting Clevo stock drivers for USB 3.0. Try install this newest drivers from this link: http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...as_usb3_2.0.34.0(www.station-drivers.com).exe

My P170HM was freezing a lot on Windows 7. After working on Ubuntu 10.10 I didn't had any freeze. I think only damaged drivers on Windows 7 causing those freezes.

And write it helps or not ok ?

Worth updating even if no problems so far?

I've only tested a hard drive on the 3.0 slot so far though... No problems during a 6 hour backup...

I updated the firmware and the driver, on the stock driver and firmware I had the usb cutting out issue when in a game with my gamepad on one of the 3.0 ports.
I'll give it a try now and see if it's taken care of.

Guys... I have the NP8150 and my 2nd USB 3.0 causes freezes whenever I connect my USB 3.0 HDD to that port.

It won't properly detect my HDD most of the time and accessing it will cause My Computer to freeze. Unplugging it will unfreeze it and windows would ask me to format disk.

Sometimes it recognizes my drive correctly but when I start copying a file it would just freeze with the windows that shows the progress of the copy with Calculating.....

For ONE time it used my HDD as a USB2.0 and it worked without problems but just slower speed.

The first USB3.0 port works fine though.

Do you think I got a lemon?

The port works fine with USB 2.0 devices. One more weird thing. When I have the USB3.0 HDD plugged in that port and my wireless receiver for my mouse in the USB2.0 port next to it, the wireless range of my mouse is reduced drastically. I have to bring my mouse to the side of the receiver for it to receive motion properly.

Again.. All these won't happen when I use a USB2.0 device in that port and it only happens with that 2nd USB3.0 port.

We have validated that firmware and driver-set and concluded that it fixed some detection issues and increased performance. We didn't get the drivers from that site, but from NEC themselves recently as we were able to reproduce the issue on our end. Basically the firmware pukes every once in a while when you plug stuff into it.

Just make sure you UNPLUG ANYTHING USB when you update the firmware, you can wreck stuff if you dont.

Just played through a game of Borderlands with my gamepad on a 3.0 port with the firmware update and driver update, no issues.

Disabling the power management functions seems to have resolved some issues for our customers.

try to change also drivers for Intel chipset Device Software (newest are 9.2.0.1025) , I also changed drivers for Intel 6300 (latest v13.5.0), Jmicron CardReader, JMicron 1394, TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor drivers 2.19.
I uninstalled also Hothey program and Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology. I think one of them cause problems (try also observe any system error or warnings in Event Viewer sometimes it helps)

And so far I didn't experienced any freeze if you want i can upload my combination of drivers for P170HM if you want.
