    Hello all,

My laptop came in this week.. I am mostly very happy with it.. except I have one major issue. I cannot conenct any sort of USB Hub 3/0/2.0 to this system without major problems.

I have numerous types of hubs mainly for test purposes to figure out what is wrong here.

One hub is a powered one - takes a separate AC adapter and has 8 ports.

The other 3 are ones you would typically find on a laptop cooling pad, the back of monitors and most recently, I bought an Anker 4-port USB 3.0 hub that connects to a USB-C port on the laptop.

Here are the issues: No matter what hub i connect, I get various issues including devices disconnecting/reconnecting 100 times a minute (constant sound of devices reconnecting and being removed in windows) and even devices not being able to send data correctly - (moving a mouse while on the hub moves the mouse, but every couple of seconds it will stop moving for a split second as if the computer didnt get the data) - Additionally, I have even had blue screens that I have posted from a CrashedWho log:

This was probably caused by the following module: usbxhci.sys (0xFFFFF808E93A5B25)
    Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x43, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFF808E93A5B25)
    Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\usbxhci.sys
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: USB XHCI Driver

As a note, all devices work perfectly IF THEY ARE ON THE USB PORTS OF THE LAPTOP - and not the hub. Also note that I have tried the hub with just ONE device.. this isnt a power issue on the non-powered devices... and the powered hub does the same thing.

This is 100% a windows driver issue - why do I say this? My Alienware 15 did the SAME THING and I could not use any ports on any type of hub whatsoever and was limited to the ports on the laptop... yet again.

Has anyone run into this? Microsoft owns the USBXHCI driver and I am completely up to date on windows update. This is clearly a problem with windows.. but is there anything else I can do? Has anyone tried hubs with these new laptops with windows 10? I am so tired of being limited like this I thought buying a new laptop would fix this issue since I thought it was a hardware issue in my previous laptop.

Here are my laptop specs: bD7DDBT.jpg

I know this isnt a "tech support" thread.. but Tech support from HiDEvolution is saying its my devices and said buy a different hub.. I bought numerous hubs and no matter what device I use and how many I use on any hub, I get the same issues.

Can anyone replicate this with this driver? Does anyone else use hubs?

To add to this: I have tried the "power management" "Allow computer to turn off this device" unchecked on all my devices and my power management does not allow turning off devices either.

Every single USB hub I used before including Anker had such disconnection issues, even the latest one. I just gave up on the idea of using USB hubs personally.

Well.. if i am screwed here.. then maybe i can try to convert the usb-c slots ? I jsut can't let the computer think it is a "hub" in any way.

    Will this work?

    https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Adapte...UTF8&qid=1493361079&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+c+usb

Will it just convert the signal.. or will it act as a hub port and give me those disconnecting issues because it has to go through that driver.

I have a powered anker hub though it runs off my own PSU (the one it came with flaked and died), and it remains connected permanently.

    What laptop do you use?

If it is Windows 10, then youve gotta be on the same driver as me.

I can;t find a hub, powered or not, that doesnt have all my stated issues.

The one in my signature. NP9873, but as I said I use my own power brick for my hub, before I did it would cause me issues:

Just want to point out that this is still happening... a "tough.. thats windows 10 on new laptops" is a pretty bad solution. All drivers are up to date.. and ive spent countless hours trying to resolve this.

Now that I need to move my laptop into another room for recording purposes, i need to extend my usb ports via a HUB... and now it needs to work. I can't ignore this problem anymore...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting Microsoft? Whilst I suspect the result will be similar to relieving yourself into a head wind, it sounds like a Microsoft issue that's only hope of resolution is through weight of user complaints.

You've paid for a copy of windows, I certainly hope your countries consumer protection laws give you the right to complain when it's not fit for purpose.

Like I said the above one works flawlessly in windows 10. Ensure you use a high quality powered hub (for more power hungry setups) a third party high capacity brick is a good idea if the wall wart looks wimpy.
