How do I get my usb keyboard to work?

I installed drivers and everything but it's like it's not even plugged in.

normally it should automatically load the drivers and then work.
try control panel > keyboard > hardware > click on your external keyboard just in case you need to override the onboard keypad.
    hope this helps.

restart the laptop and have the keyboard plugged in while retbooting. most usb keyboards now are plug and play so you should not have this problem. are you sure the actual keyboard is in working order?
