    Hey All,

Well, I was just doing my own thing... letting my sager idle. I returned hrs after and saw a blue screen of death. It said that there was a hardware malfunction, call your hardware supplier for support. Well, I was panicking, so I restarted and was hoping it wasn't anything serious... and it wasnt!

It restarted, screen still lights up... haven't tried vid card... but I did find an "issue" and I hope that it is it... and nothing else was harmed. It seems to be my USB ports. As we all 9262 owners (and such) know that there are 4 USB ports... from left to right... imagine them and label as 1 (top left if looking straight on) 2 (top right) 3 (bottom left) 4 (bottom right). Well, i had an external mouse hooked up on 2... always been there since I've had the sager. It seems to Power the mouse (lights are on... but actually can't use the "back" "forward" buttons... as well as change my cpi settings from high/low **Steel Series Ikari Laser Mouse**) but when I tried moving it... nothing happened. Unplugged... plug it back in... no messages (drivers are already installed for that piece) Hooked it up to 4 (bottom right) and saw a message saying that there was a malfunction on the hardware device.

Well, then I plugged it in number 1 slot (top left) and bam... the mouse cursor moves along w/ the mouse... I can go back/forward w/ the buttons... scroll... and change cpi settings. Unplugged it... plugged it into 3 (bottom left) and nothing again! So it seems that 3 out of 4 usb ports are... bad? I checked out device manager and this is what I see (not sure if its the same for all... can some1 verify?)

So there are 3 "unknown Devices" Coincidence? 3/4? Or.. am I just mistaken? And what are the other things? So many under that "usb" category. When I click on the Unknown Devices it says "No drivers are installed for this device."
So, I busted out my cd of drivers from Sager... and... I can't seem to find something for the USB? Maybe one of these hidden names work for the USB? But there isn't really a driver that just says openly "USB DRIVER RIGHT HERE" (even checked out sagernotebook.com) So now I'm stumped.

I guess... the first question is... it is my usb ports right? I wish I had other USB things to try... but I really don't. So I am jumping to this conclusion just with the fact that it wont' read my mouse and with what I can see from device manager. So if anyone has any suggestions of what I can do to fix this.. or diagnose this further, please let me know. Not even sure how it "malfunctioned" It was connected to the power supply... was idling (screen off but not in sleep) I hope I didn't fry anything serious... any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Well, whether you can find them or not, it's almost certainly a bad/corrupted driver, and the solution will most likely be uninstalling the old driver, and reinstalling the new one. Check on the Clevo website as well as the Sager website. If it's not there, then it'll probably be either on Intel's website, or in Windows itself.

    Clevo's website

*deleted* since it was to small hehe
(video, audio, and 1.3 mp camera files not shown)

As you can tell... nothing just says USB.

Then there is also the question of why 1 out of the 4 works...

    gonna check intels website...

If I delete all of them... will the PC just find the drivers?

    Look for the Chipset driver.

If you can't find it at Clevo's, download the P965 chipset driver from Intel.

And yes, it will reinstall/find the drivers.

    Awesome... well... I did find

    1-1. Chipset Driver (Intel G965+ICH8-DH)
Operation System Release Date Driver Version WHQL LOGO Remark
    64bit&32bit Vista OSinbox
    Note:

from the Driver list from the Sager CD... however... There was no folder of such file >.<

So if i do just "uninstall" them... it will find it automatically? and I should "uninstall" all of them right? every single thing under the USB Category?

upon opening the cd files... there are 2 to chose from... drivers... or optional.

    in the driver folder:
    Video
    Audio
    Modem
    Touchpad
    Card Reader
    AP-Key

    Optional Folder:
    Matrix
    WLan
    Bluetooth
    Camera

    Nothing has a "chipset"
Checked Sager's website... all they have it for is XP not vista 64

Can I try uninstalling everything and reboot? or is it vital I have this file as well? BC since it will find the drivers... wouldn't it be okay? or is this Intel driver what makes it run... better?

Yeah, when in doubt, try fiddling in device manager first :) Usually if it's a device error, removing it will make the OS find the default drivers & reinstall them - corrupt drivers are overridden.

    Glad it worked :D Phew.
