I got regular ALtec Lansing 2.1 speakers, black, for about 45$ and they totally rock.
This is what I have :

This speaker is portable, but loud. It sounds OK.

I am actually not looking for the best sound quality per say, I basically just want to be able to hear my movies from across a medium sized room...
My setup is I have my lappie hooked up to a external TV but the sound has to play through the laptop and the little speakers on the laptop just arent enough to hear very well when sitting on the other side of the room.
Again its not a HUGE room, im probally 10 feet from the laptop, so I just need something that will pump some higher volume, quality isnt the biggest issue as for me its like telling a difference between 1080p and 1080i....
What about these...

Actually cheaper then what you've picked and this one has a subwoofer too.
If you don't want to plug it into the green jack, you can buy a cheap usb sound card to plug it in. -
No I have to get a USB set..
