I was wondering if it was possible to configure the 5760 to wake from standby through a usb device, more specifically the mce remote from hp. The only way I can wake the computer from standby right now is to press the power button. I would also like to be able to press any key on the keyboard but getting usb to work is my main goal.

Standby does not wake up unless you use the power button. There are no other options that I am aware of.

Or use Fn-F4, or open the lid when you're on standby and it's closed.

As for the remote, i'll try the power of my TV tuner remote. But i'm going with Paladin on this, I only know of these methods.

Ok, thanks for the replies. It would be nice if sager would release an updated bios to enable this because I really want to be able to use my laptop like a tv, be able to turn it on and off with my remote from a distance.

Fn-F4 is sleep... is sleep the same thing as standby?

I don't know what 'Sleep' is to be honest, but Stand By and Hibernate are two different things.

When you put the computer in Hibernate mode, it will take all the data in your memory and write it to the hard drive - when you turn the system back on, it will reload all that data. The computer completely powers off in this mode.

Stand By is quite different. The computer never actually shuts off - rather, it keeps just enough power running through the RAM to keep the data intact. Only takes a few seconds to get in and out of this mode.

It puts it in Standby, not Hibernate. Yes, Sleep is the same as Standby.
