    Hi!

I plan to buy my first Clevo laptop, the Sager NP3132, in the next few weeks.
My current laptop is a Lenovo X1 Carbon v4 which I use extensively with a docking station that uses a proprietary Lenovo cable that passes both power and data simultaneously, allowing me to connect a single cable to my laptop to get full docking (power, monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse).

I would like to get a similar experience with the NP3132 using the USB-C port, which according to the specs supports both Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1.

After reading online, I get the impression that the USB-C/TB3 experience in various devices is not very consistent, with many reports on laptops that don't actually charge, but only pass data.

    My questions:
    1. Is power delivery via USB-C working well in Clevo laptops that specify USB-C and TB3, and specifically does it work for the NP3132?
    2. Are there any special considerations I need to make when choosing the docking station? For example, this dock has great reviews on Amazon and is pretty cheap at 42$. Should I expect it to "just work" if I buy it?

If it's relevant at all, I'm running both Linux and Windows.

    Thanks in advance!

I would love more information on this unit too especially on the lanes available to its TB3.

The machine only draws power from the main power input. Any generic docks should work just fine.

How many lanes will this laptops ThunderBolt 3 run on? 2 or 4? Makes a substantial difference for those interested in a future eGPU.

Thanks a lot for your response!
    Can you please clarify?
Do you mean that connected devices will work (monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse), but it will not charge via USB-C?

Bummer, that means I won't be able to replicate the experience I had with the x1 carbon v4, where I can "fully dock" the laptop with one plug.

Side question: do you know what generic power adapters and batteries will work with this model?

    Thanks!

I believe it's a 5.5x2.5mm 19V barrel so lots of options charger wise.
