    Hi,

I've recently tried to setup a VPN through Checkpoint using my NP8170 and got an error saying it can't initialize the virtual adapter.
I'm on Win7 Pro and using the stock drivers from Sager.

    Has anyone encountered this problem?

    Thanks

A virtual adapter is solely an element of the operating system - as long as your network card is operating, I wouldn't expect it to be a driver or hardware issue. Try reinstalling your Checkpoint software?

The Checkpoint software checks out (lol sorry) because I use it on another PC (running WinXP SP3).
So my suspicion is on either the OS or the hardware drivers. Is there any other software that makes use of the virtual adapter that I can test on?

I'm not familiar with the software, but it could be something generic:

Your Check Point installer may not be compatible with Windows 7. Are you running the newest version? Quick searching comes up with this:

If you aren't running a version compatible with Windows 7, it may not load or work at all. You can try right clicking on the shortcut and running it in compatibility mode for XP and see if that helps.

The older versions of Checkpoint have known issues with Windows 7.
I'd make sure that you are using the latest version.

Also, you could try the windows 7 built in VPN client.
If you're using Win 7 Ultimate just type VPN into the start menu and then choose 'Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection.

Your problem is definitely not hardware related - it's a software problem :)
    Good luck.

Yes, if anything, my other desktop runs on Ultimate, while I have Pro for my Sager...

    I'll keep looking. Thanks!
