Hi guys/gals (not too sure if there are any girls in this section lol), long time lurker first time poster! I am thinking about getting a 5760 and I just have a bit of a concern. I was wondering if the fan noise on the 7900 GTX is still loud when doing less intensive tasks such as websurfing, coding etc. Also If it is loud if there was a way to underclock the 7900 gtx to a level that it would not need the fan to be running that loud and perhaps even save whatever pitiful battery life that beast of a laptop has lol. Thanks again!

If you are not using your video card heavily with 3D gaming or modeling it does not get hot enough to require the fans to spin up very high.

As for battery life, you just can't have that much video card and a 17" screen...AND good battery life. They just don't go together so you have to decide which is more important when selecting the model you want to buy.

I know about the battery life with 17 inch models, i just require abuot 2 hours while doing idle tasks (mostly programming) and i didnt know if it could reach that limit with those stock speeds.

Oh yes, the NP5750 will give you at least 2 hours while doing idle tasks. For those kinds of tasks you should get close to 2.5 hours given that you have your power management settings set conservatively.
