Hello, I just received a Sager NP9150 a couple days ago. I had the brand new 7970m GPU order into it and that should run everything like it was notepad...

Now I've got everything installed (steam, zune, vent, etc...) but when I come to play CS:S it pops this message up and won't open the program. I view my task manager and it says hl2.exe is running, but nothing is opened on my screen...

I had something like that last year, although I just ignored it and everything was ok. It seems for you that the iGPU is being used, so you may want to set enduro to use the dGPU for steam and all games.

It's an option in the AMD control center. Idk exactly where it is, as I don't have one yet >.< but its there. You have to force it to use the AMD 7970... They really need to turn that crap off.

Since the card is so new it seems many programs do not recognize it. HWMonitor can be tricked but it shows the Intel IGPU, GPU-Z won't even load.

    Open your Catalyst Control Centre.
Go to Preferences(top right area of window)->Advanced View

This should give you more options, one of which is 'Power'. This is where the switching controls lie. Just set hl2.exe to use the 7970M and you should be good to go.

For me, since I just got my laptop, I set in "Graphics Properties" > "Switchable Graphics" to notify me when a new application is unassigned. Thanks to that, I know when an program hasn't be assigned to either the 4000 or 7970M. Here you can choose to set a program as "Power saving" (4000) or "High performance (7970M).

It does, but programs that use an old for of detection will only ever see the integrated graphics on a switchable platform (Optimus or Enduro) so just tell it to never warn you again and play.

The problem is the game won't show up on my screen. It says it's running in task manager but doesn't show on my display.
