Finally, after a long wait, I got a chance to buy 9800M GTS to replace my RIP 8800M GTX. However, the screen turns black after installing the 260.99, so I guess the card's 3D Mode is still locked.
Is there a way to unlock it? I have ever read some threads about this. Do we need NiBiTor? Also, which VBios can we use for this card?

Thank you for the reply guys.
    Regards,
    Rudy

    I'm on BIOS 0.13.

    I wanna cry.... T_T

EDIT: tried to contact mxm-upgrade.com but they couldn't help

EDIT: Is it alright if I flash the VBIOS with 8800M GTX one, or will I be getting totally black screen so blind flash is needed?

EDIT: Your helps will be much appreciated. Cheers.

That would result in a bricked card. I wouldn't do that.

    Hello,

that doesn´t sound good. Maybe the card is defective, too. :(
Did you try another driver - an older nVidia driver or a driver from laptopvideo2go?
Reseat the card. Check the temperatures...

Hm, I attached a 9800m GTS vBios I have from a 9800m GTS that was and is working in a M570RU, maybe you try that one just in case there is something wrong with the vBios.
    It is the version 62.94.42.00.11.

Hope you get it to work, but I have my doubts... :(

    Good luck!

Try a 9800m gt vbios. They are generally pretty standard/stable. I used it on 5 8800m gts cards no problem.

    No it wont.

The 9800m GTS could be 55nm, which is slightly different but not that different.

There is a difference between getting a black screen or unstable card and getting a "bricked" card, a word which people seem very keen to throw around.

Thank you so much for the replies guys.

@Tirenz: Thanks a lot for the file. I have just tried to reflash the VBIOS, but unfortunately, with the NVidia driver, after windows logo is gone, the screen still goes black on the desktop (welcome sound still plays). Uninstalled and using the standard vga driver lets me have the screen shown up.

I downloaded the NVidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com BTW.

@ettornio & @niffcreature: I just thought that if I reflash with 8800M GTX, at least I can have the 9800M GTS working with lower clocks and 512MB memory. ^_^; But I see now it doesn't work like that I guess. hohohohoho.

So, I can get into Ubuntu 9.10(NVidia driver) fine with it, get into Windows 7 with standard vga drivers, but sluggish. Do you guys think I should try Windows XP? hahahaha... This is just so ridiculous. Is the card faulty?

Temperature is fine. About 50C in 28C room (Yes, it is summer now here).

I wonder if there are anyone else who got the same problems with me. Any other suggestions / recommendations / opinions?

    Cheers,
    Rudy

Where did you get that card from?
Sorry to say, but my first guess is that the card is defective.
You could try a fresh windows installation and see what happens, maybe the installation is faulty.

    Hello,

I bought the same card at the beginning of this year and that was the card that still works in a M570RU perfectly (shipped from Canada to Germany, no problem) - but you can never tell - maybe this card is defective, this can happen. I would contact Eurocom and ask for a new card.
I once got a 9800m GTS from Nostra and had to return it 2 times because it was defective, the third one was working...

Could it have something to do with the fact that you bought a 1GB card? The 9800M GTS my original 5793 came with is a 512mb card - the card still works flawlessly, even in the new barebone body.

@Tirenz: I sent an email this morning to Eurocom and ask for exchange as shown in their policy. It is still 3 days after I received it. Let see what they say.

@Renovatio: I don't think that matters. The memory should be handled by the VGA instead of the motherboard.

Reno may have a point, the 1GB model might have a slightly different ID assigned to it that the BIOS doesn't have an info on so it goes retarded when it sees the card.

What about gtx 260m and 280m from mxm-upgrade? They are 1GB, aren't they? But they work. ???????

Save the VBIOS with GPUZ. If it is G94 based, your pretty much out of options. If it is G92 based, then you can flash it to a 8800m or 9800m, but I would recommend a 9800m GTX because it is 1gb. I have the BIOS somewhere, I can upload it for you.

Unless I am mistaken the 280m and 260m are not actually supported by the m570ru, only the m570tu. So the 1gb VRAM size could be your problem. Luckily 1gb is supported by the 9800m GTX and the m570ru

I'm pretty sure the M570RU topped out at the 9800M GT, the GTX was never officially supported.

Yep, the 9800m GTX is not officially supported (I don´t know if there has been something changed in the .13 BIOS though...).
But the FX3700m that some people here use in the M570RU and it is working has 1 GB, so it can´t be a general problem with 1 GB, I think.
If you put a 9800m GTX in a M570RU, you get 30 seconds of beeping and a mxm structure error, so I think that would be the indicator that the card is not supported.
If the 9800m GTS with 1 GB shows up in the Bios and no beeping at all etc., I think it should work.

    Hello guys,
Just tried to reinstall some different NVidia drivers, apparently I got blue screen:

Hardware Malfunction: NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error *** The system has halted ***

I think it is defective. o_O

@niffcreature: I will check GPUZ as you suggested.

@Tirenz & @theriko: I am pretty sure 9800M GTX is not supported for M570RU, but 9800M GTS really shows up in my BIOS with 1GB VRAM. I get no beeping at all on booting.

That error message is a really good indication of a hardware failure.

Could you pass him your 512MB vBios along with string ID info?
He could flash the 512MB vBios or change the strings with
the ones from you using NiBiTor.

Usually it is safer when you flash the lower memory/core #
vbios to the larger card than the other way around.

    Hello guys,
I have been trying to contact eurocom the seller on eBay for almost a week now with no luck, no reply. That's after I told them about the blue screen memory parity error.

If somebody has got the vBios for 9800 512MB and can upload it for me, that would be awesome and much appreciated.
    Thank you :)

Also, how did you pay for the card? Perhaps you can get your money credited back to you since it is a defective card and then get another card.

I was able to do that with an Ebay computer purchase when I got a defective computer that was DOA and the company would not help me out.

Thats very important, do not use ANY Toshiba BIOS on an MXM card. Toshiba does NOT use MXM.

Eurocom is not the most honest of sellers. You need to open an "item not as described" case ASAP.

@mmarchid: I contacted the seller before I pass the return period and they said as long as it is defective, I can have a refund or exchange. "No worries about the time frame. if the card is bad we will eather send you a new one or refund your payment." ~upgradeyourlaptop

@mikepd & niffcreature: I've just opened a case as you suggested. Let see how it goes. Thanks

    EDIT:
    ====
Fortunately, I got a full refund from them. They have not been replying to me until I opened a case.
Thank you for your help guys. Any suggestions what card I can still get and where to buy?
