Hey guys, i'm sure this question had been asked before but i simply could not find a solution to this no matter how hard i dig. I've tried updating the drivers for my 6990 but the Catalyst mobile downloaded from ATI simply refuse to detect my 6990. The drivers posted on the official Sager website for the 6990 is kinda old and i'm sure newer ones have been developed. Could anyone please give me a hand on this? Thank you so much for your help.

Why isn't this version available on the Sager website? I'd feel a lot better not downloading my drivers from Mediafire.

Hi Larry! Yap, that link is a no go. It tells me that my computer does not contain a proper graphics adapter.

Yeah. 8.892.0 is the driver version, 11.9 is the Catalyst software version.

My ATI 5870 just blue screens during the install whenever I use anything but the Sager drivers. The screen flickers while updating the driver as usual and then the blue screen appears instead of windows coming back. This started happening with 11.9 and later. After this experience I probably will be buying Nvidia from now on since it seems that AMD's drivers never work down the road after they have your money.

This is the response they will give you when it doesn't work:

Thank you for contacting AMD. For laptops, driver compatibility is largely determined by the laptop manufacture. Depending on how the laptop manufacture integrates the graphic card into their laptop, they can enable/disable/change the way in which the graphic card works. This unfortunately, can cause the drivers provided by AMD to either be incompatible or only work partially. For full driver compatibility, you will need to use the drivers provided by your laptop manufacture as they are the only ones aware of any changes they made. You can try future releases of the AMD drivers, but they are not guaranteed to work on your system.

I don't actually know how to access these 'special' driver packages by navigating through the actual AMD/ATI site. What I have been doing is just changing the link to match the new driver version. So for example, next month when 11.10 is released, the direct link should be "http://www2.ati.com/DriVeRs/mobile/ 11-10_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe".

Kind of a crude method but it works.

Yeah, it's weird. "http://www2.ati.com/" redirects straight to the AMD homepage, so there doesn't seem to be a direct way to access the link for these drivers through their website.
