    Hi

There seems to be an update to the Clevo P775TM, go to the video below its located 7:40 time wise

Not a lot of detail, he was not allowed to film it, but apparently it's for 10th Gen Intel CPUs.

    Does anyone have concrete details?

Good catch. Fingers crossed for a chassis redesign (about darn time) and vapor chambers.

I'm wondering if its close, given they demo'ed it at Computex, also noticed that Clevo and Creative have gone into partnership with audio hardware for Clevo laptops.

About time, the P775 is ancient in laptop terms and has been overtaken by the competition since it started its life on Skylake.

I think it has to be vapour chamber, whether or not it handles 9900K @ 5ghz the GT76 cooling is heatpipe spaghetti, and 10th gen is rumoured to be another 2 cores on 14nm+++ further increasing heat output but more importantly, thermal density . There's only so much area above the die that can be covered with heatpipes before adding more has minimal effect

Hopefully the replacement takes some of the P870s features into consideration since dual GPUs on laptops are dead. They should replace both the P775 and P870 with one superior machine in my opinion. I have my doubts as to whether it will be better than the P870, but only time will tell.

Mainly thinking of the CPU side, though a beefier GPU heatsink would help with overclocking.

Wonder if it's coming late this year. A redesign was needed. I guess P870XX series is dead then for good.

I've been holding off for something to happen to the DTR space. The 51M wasn't it... and I thought the GT76 would be, but that wasn't, either.

I hope the 775 update is something that won't leave my now-growing anticipation disappointed.

Might have to wait until they make a new model series, I would expect the refreshes to be more in the same vein as the exiting 775 just with refreshed components.

I'd wait to see what the reviews are like for the GT76 before you discount it, would be interesting to see how it overclocks. I thought the Acer Helios 700 might have been worth a punt but information seems to have dried up and the Asus Mothership is also not it in my view though I like the form factor.

Its quite interesting to note that Clevo Laptops like the P775 and P870 were not talked about much, when MSI & Alienware released these laptops with desktop class CPUs. Its not a new thing.

this definitely needs a chassis redesign. 2 fans and puny heatsink for a 10c cpu that can hit 250w+ and a 150-200w GPU just isnt gonna cut it.

no doubt the redesign will probably have thin bazel, smaller in size, cpu heatsink rated to 125w due to "intel specs".

this gonna need minimum 3-4 fans with huge amount of copper like the GT76.

Frankly, the lack of G-Sync in the GT76 and it having Optimus is already a dealbreaker.

I don't need Optimus in something that's going to only ever use the battery as a glorified UPS.

It doesn't even make sense from a design standpoint. Optimus is there to extend battery life. Who is using a GT76 on battery for any appreciable amount of time?

The choice for Optimus, and the use case for a DTR, are polar opposites.

At the cost of *sync and Optimus-related performance degradation, too?

    - user who prefers form / looks over function (doesnt deserve either)
    - makes sure to mention First Class in capital letters for a 4hr flight

right, doesnt surprise me in the least that u havent bought a clevo yet xD

in any case, RGB doesnt make a system sturdier. ud be surprised at how sturdy clevo machines are, no need for dura coats

Considering it will be MY device paid for with my hard EARNED money I want it to look decent enough that it will atleast look good sitting on my desk.

Buying those 28" rims for a Mercury Comet is stupid imo...

Totally missed the point, it has nothing to do with RGB. They have no personality.

The same will those who spent all their hard earned money on Applebooks as well. They prefer design/good looks over functionality.
Even warning about how bad the product is doesn't help. They buy it anyway.

There is much more than Apple people that don't listening on wartnings about the products... This isn't brand specific https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/07/20/intel_core_i9_performance_in_dell_apple_laptops/

What brands people prefer doesn't matter. Many people whatever brand they like look on design but forget the functionality. How it works come second or last. This is the reason the ODM/OEM can continue push out broken trash but packed into a nice and shiny notebook package chassis.

There does not have to be one balance point, their can be a variety of machines at different points. That's why laptops are generally more interesting than desktops.
